Samsung Wave 3 crashes onto French shores

Samsung's new Bada flagship has just docked into our illustrative French port. Announced back in the summer, the Wave 3 arrives on the refreshed Bada 2.0 OS, powered by a 1.4GHz processor and packing a four-inch 800 x 480 Super AMOLED display. Storage matches the watery iteration, with 3GB of memory baked-in, with expansion possible through microSD. Meanwhile, an auto-focus five megapixel shooter will do its best to fill all that space. Not content with France (where Bada-powered handsets have established a niche fanbase), the HSPA-connected smartphone is also penned to hit Germany, Russia and Italy before the end of the year.

The Wave 3 also includes ChatON, Samsung's cross-platform communication service that connects all mobile users into a single community. With easy sign-in that requires no passwords or IDs, ChatON integrates directly with users' contact information to enable spontaneous chatting in seconds; and enables sharing of content in multiple formats-images, video, voice, contacts, calendar-to make messaging simpler and faster than ever. ChatON's Group Chat feature also allows users to communicate with multiple contacts at once-anytime, anywhere.

With the launch of the Wave 3, Samsung has introduced a range of exciting new 3D Game and LBS related apps that take full advantage of the updated bada 2.0 OS and new hardware features such as Wi-Fi Direct and voice recognition. Spanning a diverse range of categories including gaming, entertainment, education and utilities, Samsung Apps will celebrate the launch of bada 2.0 by providing exclusive free downloads of Camcard, Skyview and The Adventures of Tintin: The Game for a limited time.

Additionally, Samsung is hosting a global app contest, the 'bada 2.0 Power App Race'. 'bada 2.0 Power App Race' winner will be decided by the public, with the top 10 best-selling applications in Samsung Apps determining the result. Developers can participate via the bada developer site (developer.bada.com/) after registering for the contest by Dec. 31.
