Sun, Sea, Sand And Speed: Verizon Wireless Brings The Power Of Its 4G LTE Network To This Summer's Hot Spots

-- More of Northeast's hottest summer vacation spots getting blazing fast 4G LTE service

MORRISTOWN, N.J., May 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Just in time for the start of summer, Verizon Wireless is further expanding the nation's largest 4G Long-Term Evolution (LTE) wireless data network to more of the Northeast's most popular summer vacation destinations from Vermont to Virginia.

Beginning May 17, 4G LTE will be expanding to:

Cape Cod and Northern Vermont
The Southern shore of Long Island
The Jersey Shore including Sea Bright and Monmouth Beach, Belmar, Point Pleasant, Toms River, Atlantic City and into Cape May County
Lancaster and York, PA
Delaware beach communities including Rehoboth Beach, Bethany Beach, Lewes and Seaford
The Outer Banks of North Carolina (Memorial Day Weekend) – in addition to Ocean City, MD and Virginia Beach

Vacationers and local residents in those areas will be able to use their 4G LTE devices to share vacation photos and videos with friends and family back home, download a movie for late-night popcorn parties or another book to read on the beach, or listen to music when they want a break from the sound of the waves – all at speeds up to 10 times faster than before.

The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network is available to more than two-thirds of the U.S. population in 230 markets across the country and offers more than six times the geographic coverage of its nearest competitor's 4G LTE network. Verizon Wireless customers looking to experience the nation's fastest 4G network can choose from a variety of 4G LTE devices, including tablets, smartphones, hotspots and more.

In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless 4G LTE customers should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.
