TVCatchup adds catch-up TV for UK's major broadcasters

For the first time, the ironically-named live-streaming service TVCatchup is offering catch-up TV. From later today, the outfit will be baking-in links to the UK's four major broadcasters' on-demand platforms to its own service -- giving you a choice between watching live TV and binge-watching old episodes of Only Connect. While access to BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4OD and Demand 5 is currently limited to the browser, the feature will be rolled out to TVC's mobile apps in due course.

TVCatchup now with catch-up TV

London, 17 September 2013 – TVCatchup, the Internet TV company, is today returning to its roots with the launch of a catch-up TV offering.

The new service will make available all on-demand programmes from public service broadcaster (PSB) websites. Unlike the original cloud PVR, which held recordings made by users of all programmes, the service instead links to the BBC iPlayer, the ITV Player, 4oD and Demand 5.

The full catch-up TV offering is available alongside TVCatchup's linear TV service. Extended programme details are available for viewers to review, along with deep links to specific episodes or programmes directly on the PSBs' websites. Viewers are redirected from TVCatchup to the broadcasters' own sites, where they can watch the programme and explore other content.

Initially available through the browser only, the service will be rolled out to all mobile and tablet apps in due course.

Alex Guest, marketing director of TVCatchup, said: "Just as we stream the best selection of linear channels in the UK, we are also bringing together the best collection of on-demand TV programmes. Viewers today want one place to find all they want to watch and we're making it easy for broadcasters to reach their public."
