Aereo to roll out its TV streaming service in four new cities

Despite a few legal entanglements along the way, Aereo continues to spread its cloud-based TV streaming service across the country. The lucky municipals this time around are Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio, Indianapolis, Indiana, and San Antonio, Texas. As with Aereo's other launches, those interested can pre-register at the company's website to gain priority access when it goes live. The first month is free, but you'll be on the hook for subscription payments after that; membership starts at $8 a month for 20 hours of DVR storage and goes up to $12 for 60. Most importantly, there's no word yet on when, exactly, the service will launch in these locales. But judging by how fast it's spreading, Aereo just might meet its goal of adding 22 more cities by the end of the year.

AEREO ANNOUNCES THE ADDITION OF FOUR NEW
CITIES TO ITS NATIONWIDE EXPANSION

Columbus, Cincinnati, Indianapolis and San Antonio join Aereo's expansion list;
An additional eight million more consumers in these four cities will have access to Aereo's groundbreaking technology to record and watch live television online.

New York, New York (September 24, 2013) – Aereo, Inc., today announced that it is adding four new cities to its nationwide expansion: Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio, Indianapolis, Indiana and San Antonio, Texas. These four metropolitan areas represent a total population of nearly eight million people. Columbus, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and San Antonio join Aereo's list of 22 expansion cities announced earlier this year. To date, Aereo has launched its technology in New York City, Boston, Atlanta, Salt Lake City, Miami, Houston and Dallas, with plans to continue launching the remaining identified expansion cities throughout 2013 and 2014. Aereo CEO and Founder Chet Kanojia made today's announcement at the Goldman Sachs Communicopia Conference in New York.

"The consumers spoke and we listened, so we're adding these cities to our first phase of expansion," said Aereo CEO and Founder Chet Kanojia. "From Boston to Salt Lake City, people are craving alternatives and more choice with how they watch television. Consumers are tired of being pawns in the tug-of-war between big businesses. They deserve better. At Aereo, our work is focused on delivering the best customer experience with the highest quality technology. We've set a high bar for ourselves, consumers deserve no less."

Consumers who reside in the Columbus, Cincinnati, Indianapolis and San Antonio metropolitan areas can pre-register at Aereo.com to receive priority access to Aereo at launch. Launch dates for these cities will be announced later this year.

Aereo's innovative remote (cloud-based) antenna/DVR technology makes watching television simple and user-friendly. Using Aereo's technology, consumers can pause, rewind and fast-forward any program that they are watching live, or save a program for future viewing.

Aereo membership begins at $8 per month, for access to Aereo's cloud-based antenna/DVR technology and 20 hours of DVR storage. For an additional $4, consumers can upgrade their subscription and receive 60 hours of DVR storage for a total of $12 per month. Consumers who join Aereo will get their first month of access for free.

Aereo's technology works on 'smart' devices from tablets to phones to laptop computers. Aereo is currently supported on iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, Chrome, Internet Explorer 9, Firefox, Safari, Opera. Consumers can use Aereo on their big-screen televisions using AppleTV (via airplay) and Roku devices. Android support is expected this fall.
