Your smartphone and / or tablet is just begging for an update. From time to time, these mobile devices are blessed with maintenance refreshes, bug fixes, custom ROMs and anything in between, and so many of them are floating around that it's easy for a sizable chunk to get lost in the mix. Official Android updates

  • HTC One: Following Sprint, an update to Android 4.3 is now available from AT&T and C Spire. Meanwhile, Jason Mackenzie of HTC states that T-Mobile is on track to deliver the same update during the upcoming week. [Phandroid, Android Police, @JasonMacHTC (Twitter)]
  • Moto X: Similar to the recent update from AT&T, a new firmware version is available from US Cellular and Rogers that brings improved photo quality and camera focus performance to the Moto X.   • HTC EVO 4G LTE: Jason Mackenzie of HTC states that Sprint's version of the One X will receive Android 4.3 and Sense 5 before the year's end. [@JasonMacHTC (Twitter)]
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0: An update to Android 4.2.2 is now available within the US for the WiFi version of this tablet, which can be installed either over-the-air or through Samsung Kies. [Android Central]
  • Samsung Galaxy Camera: Verizon has announced an update that installs the VZ Messaging app and corrects a SIM card activation bug within the Setup Wizard. [SamMobile]

Unofficial Android updates, custom ROMs and misc. hackery

  • HTC One: S-Off status is now possible for Verizon's version of the One, thanks to a utility from XDA members beaups and fuses. The software requires either a Windows or Linux PC, along with a stock system and kernel for installation. [Android Central, xda-developers]

Other platforms

  • Nokia Lumia 925: T-Mobile has released an update that brings a new version of Nokia Glance, along with improvements to call quality, Bluetooth audio and the FM radio. [Windows Phone Central]
