Microsoft ships 3.9 million Xbox Ones in Q2 2014, bumps revenue

Microsoft shipped 3.9 million Xbox One consoles and 3.5 million Xbox 360 consoles during the second quarter of 2014, which ended on December 31, the company's financial statement reads. Earlier this month, Microsoft announced it had shipped more than 3 million Xbox One units by the end of 2013.

Microsoft reported $24.52 billion in revenue and $7.97 billion in operating income for the quarter. The Devices and Consumer portion of Microsoft's business, which houses all things Xbox, grew 13 percent year-over-year to $11.91 billion.

"Our Commercial segment continues to outpace the overall market, and our Devices and Consumer segment had a great holiday quarter," Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said.
