Google's Nexus 6 is now available to pre-order in the UK

It's been a little over a month since the Nexus 6 was unveiled, and now the super-sized Android smartphone is nearly ready to make its UK debut. The 32GB 'Midnight Blue' model is now available to pre-order from Amazon, or you can reserve one through Vodafone on new contracts starting at £39.50 per month. (The carrier is also throwing in a free Moto 360 with the first 500 orders, so act fast and you might be able to snag a matching timepiece.) Alternatively, you can pre-order the smartphone on Carphone Warehouse's site for £499 (32GB) or £550 (64GB) off-contract, or with a new monthly plan with Vodafone, O2 and EE.

Exactly when the handset will start shipping is unclear, although the consensus seems to be early December; Vodafone's site states December 5th, Amazon has it down for December 15th and Carphone Warehouse lists December 1st. The Google Play store, meanwhile, isn't accepting reservations just yet, but it almost certainly will be at some point today. The Nexus 6 isn't quite as affordable as the Nexus 4 or 5, but the mammoth display, top-of-the-line specs and slick Android 5.0 Lollipop experience should ensure its place at the top of many Christmas lists. Update: Odd. One configuration (32GB, Midnight Blue) reportedly went live in the Google Play store with a 3-4 week delivery estimate, but already it's showing as out of the stock. The remaining models are still listed as "coming soon." We'll keep our eyes peeled.
