Gaming headsets that are PS3 / PS4 (*and* potentially Xbox One) compatible?

For the longest time, I've been using a Tritton AX 720 with my PS3.

I have a rather bizarre issue with it. Whenever I turn it off (mostly on purpose after a gaming session, but sometimes on accident if my foot bumps the amplifier), it's ridiculously hard to turn it on again. Basically, it will turn on for a second, everything will light up, and then it will turn off again.

It's really obnoxious!

So, I'm in the market for a new gaming headset. What are you using today? Are there headsets that are potentially compatible with my current Playstation 3, but also the Playstation 4 and Xbox One (hey! just keeping my options open...)

Likely anything that uses optical audio will be your best bet. I went with the Astro line because of the ease of switching. The Tritton ones were just a litter of cables. I think the the higher end Turtle Beach headphones provide the same kind of flexibility and ease of switching as the Astro line.

I have the Turtle Beach x41's. I'm not sure they're going to be fully compatible with the xbox one yet. They have optical audio, so the audio will work fine, but the chat may not work if the plug for the chat cable isn't compatible. I love them, but I'm anxious to see what the big companies have in store for the next gen. I'd really like to get the next gen version of the Astro A50's.

I don't have an actual gaming headset, but the nice thing is that the Dualshock 4 accommodates pretty much any headset/headphones with mic that has a 3.5mm jack. If they have a microphone, those will work for chat and the like. Pretty much everyone should have an extra pair of headphones lying around somewhere.
