We already told you how much we appreciated the aesthetics of Razer's latest gaming mouse (that'd be the Mamba, officially), but we spent the weekend embroiled in deathmatches and everyday blogging tasks in order to give you a bit more insight on whether this beautiful input peripheral really deserves to be acquired in exchange for $129.99. Follow us after the break if you're suddenly intrigued.

Late last month, we had the opportunity to have a listen with Razer's Carcharias headset, and now we're seeing just how precise the same outfit's latest mouse is when it comes to clicking oh-so-carefully within Minesweeper. The downright gorgeous Razer Mamba just showed up on our doorstep, and we couldn't resist photographing the unboxing experience and hosting it up for all to enjoy. Our Mamba came housed in a special Razer suitcase that also included the aforementioned Carcharias headset. The mouse packaging alone was some of the most extravagant we've seen, with even the delightfully braided USB cable (yes, it's wired or wireless) encased in a soft black cover. Bottom line? The aesthetics here are top-notch all the way around, and while we plan on giving this thing a run-through over the weekend in order to speak on actual performance, we'd suggest diving in below to whet your appetite.

Razer's Carcharias headset is yet another audio-related diversion for the input peripheral company, and as with its mighty impressive Mako 2.1 sound system, this here headset was remarkably solid. Originally announced at CES this year, this gaming headset is a multi-functional tool that works first and foremost as a two-way communication device for gamers who love to yap while fragging. Secondly, it can double as a really, really decent set of cans. The flip-down microphone can easily fold up and out of the way, and considering just how light these are, they can be worn for hours on end (trust us, we tried) without any sort of ear pain and unusual pressure on your dome.

The lengthy braided cable was slick, the in-line remote was a thoughtful touch and the headband was amongst the most comfortable we've had the pleasure of coming into contact with at this price point. When speaking with Razer CEO Robert Krakoff, he confessed that these were specifically designed to be worn comfortably for upwards of 10 hours, and we believe it. He also noted that customers were clamoring for deeper bass response in its headphone products, and yet again, it delivered in bringing the low-end to these cans. Not once did we feel the bass was magnified out of proportion, and while it's obviously designed to let gamers feel the "booms," we thoroughly enjoyed how it handled good ole rock 'n roll.

All in all, we're comfortable recommending these to PC gamers who could also use a new pair of headphones for music alone. At $79.99, these are solid enough to last you for quite some time, and the superior comfort level here is really what sets it apart. Razer may not be the first name that comes to mind when you think audio, but these are definitely worth a listen.

It's been a few months now since we've heard anything from Razer, but the outfit's hitting us up with two new pieces here at CES that are definitely worth a look. Starting things off is yet another gaming mouse, this one coined the Mamba. It features 2.4GHz "gaming grade" wireless technology, an optional, detachable cord, first-in-class polling rates of 1-millisecond, a "world's fastest" 5,600DPI Precision 3.5G Laser sensor and a battery life / DPI stage indicator. Moving on, we've got the Carcharias circumaural audio headset, which rocks a fully adjustable headband, inline remote and a 3-meter braided cable. The devices are set to start shipping in February and January, respectively, at $129.99 / $79.99. The release is hosted up in full after the break.

That "Speed of (the) Light" mouse Razer hyped? It's just the Salmosa, their new lower-end 1800 DPI, 1KHz polling gamer mouse with sensitivity adjustment and a slightly more reasonable $40 price tag. It'll be out in Q3, but something tells us by then you'll have found some other completely obvious way of spending two Jacksons.

With CeBIT opening its doors in Germany in just a matter of days, it seems that Razer is already getting us antsy by rolling out a new teaser for an upcoming mouse. Granted, it's not like the firm hasn't pulled something similar before, but considering that it specifically notes March 4th as the date to check back for more details, it's not exactly being secretive about where the launch will take place. T-minus six days until the Speed of (The) Light is revealed -- we're tense with anticipation.

By tipster popular demand, we present the Razer Destructor gaming-grade surface (named after the Gigantiops Destructor genus of ants, for the myrmecologists among you). Granted that we can't conscionably recommend shelling out $39.99 for a mousepad unless it actually performs headshots for you, but if you've got a showdown with Fatal1ty in your future it could be up your alley. Optical gaming mice reportedly track 25% better on this thing, with gaming-grade laser mice getting a 37% tracking improvement through proximity to this surface. Co-developed with pro-gaming teams, the Destructor will be available for mission-critical fragging sometime this month.

Remember Razer's Boomslang? Yeah, it's back to cash-in with the Collector's Edition 2007; just 10,000 units are being produced. Go ahead, drop $100 on a mouse from last century. We dare you.
