Logitech unveils Pure-Fi Elite speaker system for iPod
Hot on the heels of Logitech's Pure-Fi Dream and Anywhere iPod speakers comes the Pure-Fi Elite, a system that reportedly ups the ante by offering up 80-watts of power and looks a hair like the AudioStation of old. Reportedly, the device touts two-way sats, one-inch tweeters, and four-inch woofers to go along with the built-in LCD display, wireless remote, iPod dock, video output, and auxiliary input jack. Details surrounding price and availability don't yet look to be officially available, but word on the street has this sucka landing next month for around $300.[Via MacNN]
Mondo intros "new age" Mondo Mint iPod sound system
Those of you still not satisfied with the multitude of iPod sound systems out there may want to give this latest unit from upstart Mondo some consideration, which offers much of what you'd expect along with a couple of less-than-common bonuses. At the center of the system is a Class-D digital amplifier, which pumps out 70 watts of power to the two two-way, wood-construction speakers (consisting of Peerless neodymium tweeters and 4-inch AuraSound aluminum cone woofers). You'll also get not one, but two iPod docks: one on the amplifier itself, and one on the included wireless dock, which will let you control the system from up to 100 feet away (a standard remote control is included as well). Mondo's also thankfully seen fit to include a a USB port and a line-in jack for your non-iPod audio needs. Look for this one to be available on June 11th for $349.
Chestnut Hill Sound set to launch "George" iPod sound system
It may not extend its reach into as many rooms as some iPod sound systems, but Chestnut Hill Sound's upcoming "George" unit looks to at least one up Apple's own Hi-Fi in the functionality (and price) department. Set to come in at a cool $550 next month, George will handle both iPod playback and AM/FM radio duties, each controllable though the detachable wireless remote, which has its own LCD display and range of controls (check it out up close after the break). What's more, the system uses the ZigBee wireless protocol (good for up to 25 feet), which would seem to open up some home automation possibilities, although Chestnut Hill only goes so far as to hint at it, mentioning that George "improves and expands to fit your life." Maybe they'll be willing to spill a few more details when George makes its official debut later this month at CES.[Via Crave]
