The legnatile custom-made wooden laptop
Some folks attempt water into wine, while others go for turning wine into laptops. Rather, a case of vintage
Sicilian wine has been turned into a laptop, along with some leather, pine wood, oak, beech, mahogany, silk, iron and
brass screws. Each wooden part was painstakingly cut, finished and assembled to convert the otherwise utilitarian Dell
Latitude C600/Inspiron series notebook into a hand-crafted work of art. We're sure that having to go through all that
wine in the process really sped this project along.

Ugh, now that is nasty. A little better quality of wood, craft, and staining might have made this thing look a little better, you know, like the original Apple.

Yeah fugly to the max dude and a Dell ta boot. And what's the deal with the display? I see London, I see France, I see someone's LCD underpants... Electronics do not always beg to be in wood guys.

Looks like he's running Linux. I see XMMS in the background.

Good idea, badly executed. A little more forethought and attention to detail would've made this cool.

I stumbled across the guy's website a few days ago. The larger photos reveal this thing to be very poorly done indeed. Sloppy work and a thick coat of polyurethane is not a good combination.

I think it's cool, but why put so much time and work into a Dell?

You guys are just jealous of these seriously hot specs:
Pentium III-700 MHz, Hard Disk 10 Gb, DVD-Rom, 384 Mb RAM
10GB - Damn! How will he ever fill that drive up?
Seriously though, that finish looks like crap, and this guys photography is a joke. I hope it looks better in person than in his photos. A shame too since someone spent a ton of time on this and then they finished it like crap.

hand-crafted work of art? I'd say kitsch

ugh, why a Dell? this must have been commisioned by Michael himself. And why not use teak instead? definitely more aesthetically pleasing. I'm no elitist but like my favorite cosby kid says about school on Saturday, "no class"

ugliest thing ive seen in a long time.
looks like they just glued hunks wood onto the laptop. good idea, but it could have been done way better than this.

to all who think that's a fake : i've seen it during the 6th italian hack-meeting (www.hackmeeting.org) and i can confirm that's not a joke - AND the photos does not give so much idea about the 'forethougness and detail' of the whole thing
why a SUCH POWERFUL DELL :) to mod and not a ultra-blazing-apple-or-apple-like laptop ? because here in Italy we don't have imac trees :) nor ipod trees, only apple trees and mafia.
i think the whole thing is wonderful.. recycled wood, recycled laptop... and you guys are all struggling 'cause you've not had the idea first !! :)
(*sorry for my badass english*)
