Momitsu's MS-R5 1.6TB media server
We hit up their networked DVD player back in December,
now Momitsu is back with another the MS-R5, a media file server that comes with a RAID array up to 1.6TB (that's
terabytes, m'friend) that is specifically designed for streaming audio and video files to their aforementioned
DVD-V880N DVD player (though obviously it'll stream files
to pretty much anything on your network). Three large sounds like a lot to drop for 1.6TB of storage
(LaCie's 1.6TB Bigger Disk Extreme retails for about $1,250 cheaper), but what you're supposedly
getting from the MS-R5 is some real "enterprises level technology" [sic].
[Thanks, Fady]

Looks alot like Infrant's Nas600. Available for about a grand.
Looks like you need to fix the link for the LaCie page.
Momistu = RAID 0 / 1 / 5.
LaCie = RAID 0.
Trust me peoples, $1,250 more is WORTH the RAID 5. Ask anyone who lost a RAID. Especially with approximately 400 movies (1.6TB/4GB) on it.
I am waiting for the day when the HDD will truly be obsolete. A big chunk of metal spinning at 7-15K rpm with a head a few microns from the surface doesn't strike me as such an elegant solution as some form of HD solid state storage somehow.
I have had quite a few HDDs die on me and its a real pain in the ass. even with backups you invariably lose something. Raid 5 will only protect you so far. If 2 or more drives fail (as can happen with some power issues) or the volume become corrupt you are still screwed.
