Nokia getting into EV-DO?

Nokia logo

Is Nokia finally getting into EV-DO? Right now the only 3G handsets they make are for UMTS networks, but there's a report that Nokia has just cut a tentative deal with SK Teletech (a subsidiary of South Korean carrier SK Telecom) to buy as many as 7 million EV-DO cellphones a year. Nokia hasn't ever rebadged someone else's handsets before (at least not to our knowledge), so this is sort of a sea change for them, but it sounds like they're trying their best to catchup with Samsung and LG, two manufacturers which have been pumping out EV-DO handsets for a little while now. The big question is whether they're planning to only offer these in South Korea or whether they're going to turn around and sell these phones to Sprint and Verizon here in the States.
