Live Xbox 360 shot!

Can't tell you how we got our hands on this image, but what you're looking at is a real live shot of the Xbox 360 that someone sneakily snapped with their cameraphone at Microsoft's Xbox360 Revealed launch party in Los Angeles last night. Also note the presence of a hard drive attachment up top, the white controller, the Xbox Live headset, and what looks like that EyeToy-like camera peripheral we've been hearing about.
Looks damn nice IMO. Can't wait to get it day 1!!!

The cell ISN'T A SUPERCOMPUTER. Sure, it could be used in one, consumer analysts in the know acknoledge the cell will be powered down by Sony due to heat/power issues in the PS3. It will be able to handle about 256 teraflops/sec.
Furthermore, about how advanced the PS3 will be, you people need to take a break. You do realize it will have a whole 3-4 months more design time after the 360 launches. Sony won't change much once it launches in japan.
Remember, you are looking at a CELL PHONE CAMERA QUALITY shot. Just keep that in mind.
The angle at which the shot was taken elongates the console, and the 360's own concavity doesn't help matters. It's also in the back of the picture, which due to our eye's monocular cues, makes you think it is larger than it truly is. If you want a true idea about how large the 360 will be, look at the disk tray. Notice that it is a little less than half the size of the console. Thus, the console will be a little larger than the size of two disk trays.
Oh, and another small fact. The emotion engine was just as good as, if not better than, the Xbox's architecture. Sony just did a half-ass job of designing it. Therefore, with all the bottlenecks inherent in the PS2's design, the Xbox looks and preforms better.
Oh, and need I mention "Toy Story graphics in real time, 6.2 gigaflops at 300MHz, 75 million 3D transformations per second, 150 million pixels per second of image processing performance," the fact that the PS2 contained a "supercomputer," and sony's claim that PS2's could be used in missle guidance systems? And what about the integrated AIM/online service? Sony's hype is full of bull. If you people haven't learned that by now, you seriously need your head checked. You could always deny the existence of the hype and the statements i've made, but check your sources first. Look it up on the internet. Sony made or did not deny those claims before the ps2 was published.
Oh, and then there is always the claim sony made that they intended to have online gaming...partnerships with Real Networks and AOL...you want proof they lied? Look for a network port and a HDD on your original ps2. Come back when you find either.
You fanboys need to get a life...seriously. You don't have to enjoy only one system. I will probably only be able to afford one system, and I am leaning towards the 360, but I will refrain from making my decision until I know more about the PS3. I will not make the mistake of trusting sony's hype. Buy the sytems/systems you find most appealing, but there is absolutley no need to act like a 4th grader, trolling and insulting the hard work of people more talented and industrious than you. And there is no need to tell other people a console they are looking forward to is crap. Let them make there own decisions, and you make yours. But know the facts. The Cell isn't a supercomputer (unless several are paired in conjunction), and will not revolutionize the way we live. It might revolutionize gaming--we'll see.
Oh, and one more fact. Programming languages do not yet exist that can take advantage of the cell's design. Multi-thread programming (i think that is the right team) is incredibly hard to program for, and as of right now, no programming language that could be used for games exists for the cell. And it would be very hard to make/program for, with a HUGE learning curve. Maybe sony will make something in-house that will make it easier on developers...
and you guys DO know the main difference between Blu-Ray/HD-DVD/Unified format is that it can hold more information (i believe 25GB to 9G double-layered DVD), not the quality of the image...you can still get HD quality video with a DVD format...
You pubes will be drooling when you see the skins that snap over this.
Just my two cents here and by the by before anyone shouts fanboy I don't own any consoles yet but will buy one of the next gen dunno which yet all details are relatively sketchy. To say console design isnt important would be stupid and a white console is an interesting concept particularly given all the extra functionality it is gonna have(PVR,Media Centre) you'd think it would tie into other AV rack components ie black. Also take it own its merits before you go crying they stole________ design, this is sufficiently different from most big products to be judged on its merits. its line are clean and it doesnt seem massive, bar the dvd cover which I reckon should be the same as the rest of the face looks alright. Shame the plastic seems a little shiny and cheap but then havent done the solidity testing, you know how well weighted a controller is that kinda thing. Facing facts im more worried about what the tv I will be playing my console on looks like, and thats up to me, given its the business end of the partnership so to speak.

Wow they just took a computer and shrunk it down a video game console size. Oh wait a minute, they didnt shrink it at all. Im still gonna get one if it fits in my tv cabinet.

perfect, right on ignorance sucks. i am glad someone finally took the time to write a post that i enjoyed reading. id buy a ps2/psp if the games did not feel the same, if the controller wasnt so small, if it had good network capabilities, if if if. this system does does does, as did the original xbox. what didnt the xbox have? oh, i dont know. years and years of being the absolute complete king of consoles? yeah, it had that. xbox comes along and now theyre making another (i relize they lost money, but look what happened to the industry). its literally the only console that has held its own and beat sonys ass. thats something. that and the fact that peoples hair and facial expressions are NOT the same in every game.
as for bluray...its not a standard. read that again. it is not a standard. it means absolutely NOTHING right now, its just a technology. sony wants you to think theyve got sometihng amazing - blue ray is not amazing. it CAN be and pobably will, but unfortunately it wont do shit until these big companies get together and create a standard. and...a 25gb game? let me know when youve figured the cost of building such a game. i am glad ms went with a proven technology with this system. im guessing its got a faster drive, load time will be decreased very much. if its got backwards compatibility itll rock even harder, but i really dont expect it to. if the obnoxious guy is correct, this may have built in wifi. i can see ms having a page much like apples 'store' page for this console, wth all these features a configureable cosole makes sense, with retailers carrying popular configurations in stock + an option to order. thank you ms, for making this whole thing exciting again. thank you many times, the animosity shown from people who havent even played it yet shows how scared they are that this thing may knock the snot out of the fantasy known as ps3.

If you compare the console with the controller the xbox 360 is small. Its width may be big but its height is small.
Its on a clear plastic Pedestal and the angle makes it look bigger than it is. It looks to be the same size of the original playstation 2.

The ps3 wont be able to play dvd's with its blu-ray format and will force you to buy movies in blu-ray format exactly the way that psp owners are forced to buy movies in umd format.
Overall its pretty nice. I hope its just the quality of the picture that makes it look white. Silver would be better.

the xbox 360 looks pretty cool. its not amazingly pretty, but its deffinetly not ugly. They should have different colours, white doesnt really match a lot in my house.
#114, Many new electronics devices have been coming in silver and since the actual console is silver (the cameras just make it look white), if you have components to match it should blend right in.

looks like a shit tower case computer to me with spare parts that have been donated by pentium and all other computer manufacterers for a reasonable price, if i get shot tonight, its cause i got too close to the truth ;)
I think it looks cool, not to crazy about the color. So here's hopeing that it comes in all sorts of cool colors. I really do hope it ends up having the most powerful specs out of all systems.

post 124, Looks like white plastic to me as brushed metal tends to reflect less uniformly than plastic, but until I see it for myself I will take it as a light silver as a compromise, and re AV components being black, a lot are, my old stuff was but if its silver then cool will look good next to my shiny new sony amp..... oh its like Romeo and Juliet a love forbidden by both families, so long as it doesnt in in suicide its all good. I never thought the PS2 looked all that great either...what was with all the ridges? And why two different tower sizes? Did you ever see that thing laying down? Of course, it's jagged design might just have been indicitive of the jaggies to come...the cars in gt4 were absolutely stunning, but that background just kills me every time I see it...
but yeah, none of the consoles (g-cube, xbox, ps2) looked all that great. But my vaio looks incredibly sexy. Sony does know how to design good looking computers. And while I'll admit that design is important in moving a product, if you people are so concerned with eye candy and how something looks, as opposed to what is inside, then perhaps you are on the wrong site. Type in something like "vogue" into your browser...there you can obsess over gorgeous models with not much substance all you want...
but I think most true gamers won't really care what the ps3/360/revolutin looks like, it's about the software and what is on the inside...

First...that is a PS camera...that was debunked about 4 months ago.
Second...that game is in developement for the Xbox360, PS3, and the PC...there have been no official announcements on what exactly was running it when those were grabbed. Most likely the PC...as that is what it is being programmed on.
Better check your pants...I think a rabbit is soon to follow.

it will be silver, the controller is gay, i like the xbox controllers black colour. When will the offical spec be released, i'm hanging out until the OXM feature about the xbox 360 to make judgments, but it is a sexy looking console, but i aggree it would look much better in silver, how amazing would it be if that wan't the console at all and it was all a trick, i doubt it though
I challenge you to get a pic of the back of that thing. It's all about ports man. How does that camera plug in? What kind of bult-in connectivity does it have? These questions must be answered buy people who have true grit. And we are chock full of that!

Remeber there was this image of the XBOX 360 on top of the XBOX? And it had a funny caption thing that said "Daddy, stop killing mommy"??? But I dont think that would work, coz there doesnt seem to be a connector at the bottom of the XBOX 360.... and BTW, cool design, but I am still a PlayStation fan, so i will be waiting for the PS3.

Everyone is so quick to judge what it looks like. Who really cares what it looks like! As long as it has great games and is supported by lots of developers it will be awesome. Tons of people thought the current generation of systems was hideous when they were first revealed,many people thought the PS2 looked like a crappy 1980's VCR or something. Everyone always finds something to complain about and won't look at the positive things about a system. I don't think there has been a spectacular system design that everyone likes and there probably never will be. Everyone just needs to deal with what designers come up with and remeber it's not the outside that counts; its the games that are palyed on the inside. So stop bitching about how it looks.
