The 2005 Engadget Awards: Nominate the Digital Camera of the Year

Nominating is easy. Just leave a comment as you normally would with what you're nominating for this category (remember, comments must be validated!). You don’t have to include your reasons for nominating it or any of that stuff, just leaving the name is fine.
Limit your nominations only to devices that were introduced and sold for the first time in 2005 (which means no concept devices or prototypes, though we will allow updated versions of previous products).
Also, products only need to be nominated once to be in the running, so if you’re planning on suggesting something, please make a quick scan to see if someone’s already beat you to it (i.e., please don't nominate anything more than once!). Thanks!

I nominate the Nikon D200 digital SLR for best digital camera of the year.
Sony N1!
Canon eos 350D, one hell of a lot of camera for the money
SONY DSC-R1. First non-SLR camera to feature a large format sensor (APS-C size 10.3 megapixels), live-preview and a great lens.
I nominate the Kodak Easyshare One, for nothing other than thinking out of the box.
I nominate the Nikon D50. Great features for a competitive price.
Nikon D50.
A great camera for most users at an affordable price. May not be top of the line pro camera, but then... how many people actually need that.
Sony DSC-R1
Simply because its the first time a manufacturer has dropped the much hyped Megapixels Race, to create a decent sized sensor instead on a non-SLR.
Olympus EVOLT E-500
The Panasonic FZ20 for being the best non SLR that can deliver serious photography.
Canon 5D. First full-frame lens in a compact size (a prosumer body)? Unheard of! :)
Canons EOS 5D is the stand-out product for providing a full frame CMOS sensor and professional performance and functionality and a competitive price.
Gotta be the Canon 5D
Sony CyberShot DSC-T7
Sony CyberShot DSC-T7
Sony DSC-R1. First fixed lense camera to incorporate a big CMOS sensor, and live preview.
Canon 1D.
Everyone knows if you buying a DSLR and get something else you're just doing it to be different
Kodak EasyShare One
my vote goes for the Nikon D50
such a versatile and affordable DSLR with tons of great features and incredible performance
It has to be Nikon D200.
NIKON D2X & D200 -
I've been using SLR's for 35 years and I've used Digital for 3 years, including Canon's top of the line digitals - Nikon has by far the most intuitive, accurate, toughest, fastest, most perfect pro DSLR on the planet. For shooting anything that moves - nothing beats these cameras. And the price on the D200 is absolutely amazing - I have 3 D2X's and now will add 2 D200's to my working set-up. With the D200, a few lenses & a little imagination, PhotoShop and a MacBook Pro - one guy can make better than a good living and a lot of people very happy with some incredible art.
Canon 20D
Casio Exilim EX-S500. Last in the line (so far) of ultra-thin do-it-all cameras from Casio.
Fujifilm S9000
Samsung Digimax A400
Best value for money 4 megapixel digital AND optical zoom for less than $175
Konica/Minolta Maxxum 5D
Beats every 6-8MP DSLR out there: in-body anti-shake, huge LCD, beautiful interface, Adobe color space jpgs + RAW of course, very low noise, 3200 ISO, subrtactive noise reductuion (not clumped up like Canon's), 700-shot battery, incredibly affordable.
I want to Nominate the Fuji 9000 Camera
This camera shows what a traditional Photo Compnay can bring to the table. With the vast knowledge of film and how to manufacture a sensor that not only can deliver High speed 1600 asa with great Dynamic range and limited noise. It also give great color with inovative design in a sensor.
With many people printing on ink jet and not real photo paper I think there has been a dumbing down of the genral public and how great a photo can look when printed on traditional materials. Take the test print on tradtional photo paper and see for yourself it is very inexpensive compared to Ink.
Fujifilm F10
the canon ixus 50
Canon 5D. Opening the doors of 35mm photography again. All others are just wannabes...
Canon Ixus 55! Mmmm, 2.5" LCDy goodness! Not to mention it's a kickass tiny camera that takes good pictures.
Fuji 900
Nikon D200.
The Sony CyberShot DSC-T7
Picked one up for my birthday, SUPER small camera with a TON of features, I take it everywhere and love it. There is only one problem, I wish you could manually set the shutterspeed instead of the "Profile" things, but thats all that I could ever complain about it!
Canon EOS 20D!!!
There is no way that this camera can not win. It is unbelievable!!
I know it's been said many times already, but the Canon 5D is the next step in prosumer digital SLR cameras. Clearly the digital camera of the year, IMO.
Perhaps we should split the category to Digital SLR and Digital point-and-shoot? It doesn't seem fair and there are plenty of new great point-and-shoot friendly cameras.
Clearly anyone voting for the Canon 20D (albiet a great camera) has not been in the loop or seen the 5D.
Nikon D50
An affordable DSLR with fantastic picture quality and good speed.
It's clearly a toss up between the Nikon D50-great price for a great little camera or the Nikon D200-pro quality at amateur price.
canon eos 5d, no question! first FULL frame sensor SLR for more people than the Eos-1s mark II... wish i could buy one... sigh...
Fuji F10, useable pictures at ISO 1600 in an ultracompact, low-cost package.
Phase One P45 (39 megpaixels)
I nominate the Sony DSC-H1. Super Zoom (12x) with accessories and Trimming.
CANON 5D - Full frame sensor and regular SLR form factor. This is the camera I've wanted sense my first D30. The begining of the end for APS sized sensors.
Canon 5D
Finally a TRUE Digital SLR. This camera has shifted the paradigm
With increasing technology each year it becomes harder and harder to just pick one camera that sticks out among all others. But, I after testing and handling hundreds of cameras I also would say the Canon 5D. But full frame has been around for a while so its nothing new. I really impressed with Olympus E-300 or 500. Unlike many other cameras Olympus dares to be different with the Electro-Magnetic Dust reduction system. I hate Dust. Dust to Pro are the root off All Evil when it comes to DSLR.
I believe that the Nikon D50 should be nominated. Nikon has really pulled it off with this one. Think about it. Nikon Quality. 6 megapixels. Supports DX lenses and previous ones. B&H sells it for $570. And it is wicked fast. D50 hands down.
Canon EOS 5D, I wish I had one!
