The 2005 Engadget Awards: Nominate the Smartphone of the Year

Nominating is easy. Just leave a comment as you normally would with what you're nominating for this category (remember, comments must be validated!). You don’t have to include your reasons for nominating it or any of that stuff, just leaving the name is fine.
Limit your nominations only to devices that were introduced and sold for the first time in 2005 (which means no concept devices or prototypes, though we will allow updated versions of previous products).
Also, products only need to be nominated once to be in the running, so if you’re planning on suggesting something, please make a quick scan to see if someone’s already beat you to it (i.e., please don't nominate anything more than once!). Thanks!

The HTC Apache, aka Audiovox PPC-6700, was the best PDA phone introduced in 2005.
Treo 650 - 1 year old and still ROCKIN'!
nokia 6682
The Treo 650, after a year, is still the Smartphone that all others compare themselves to (Even the Treo 700w). Until the other smartphone makers realize that adding an operating system on your phone does not immediately make it a good smartphone, Treo will continue to succeed.
Treo 650 - the coolest gadget I have ever had.
I can, Phone,GPS,Watch video, Watch TV, Take photos and video, manage contacts, read PDFs, Organize, and what not, sometimes I use it as a paper weight too. :-) I love this Treo.
E-ten M600!
Nokia 668x Series Smartphones
HTC Tornado
I-mate K-Jam, aka Qtek 9100, aka HTC Wizard
I-mate K-Jam, aka Qtek 9100, aka HTC Wizard
Treo 650
Audiovox SMT5600 ... tiny powerhouse, best device ever built like a CELL PHONE and then they added the PDA functions
Treo 650
Treo 700w
I
imate sp5m or what ever it is in other brands.
Beats the treo hands down
Treo 650
The Sony Ericsson W800i
SE have been in the game a long long time, and their developments are head and shoulders above Nokia, who's smartphones are still sluggish yet feature-rich like the SEs.
The w800i is a clear depiction of how good mobile entertainment is these days.
HP iPAQ hw6500
Nokia N70.
Treo 650
Treo 650
HTC
The i930 for nextel. It was a long wait but a good first step for NEXTEL
Motorola Q (its not a prototype, you buy the actual production phone)
I nominate the Palm Treo 650.
Treo 650...no contest...nothing comes close...and next years winner will be....Treo 700p
I would say the BlackBerry 8700c if it had a camera. Big step forward though. Bluetooth, send and end buttons, EDGE. Screw it, who needs a camera anyway. I give it my vote.
Cingular 2125!
As if you need to ask, hands down the Treo650. Anything else just trys to measure up to the Treo650, not that it is perfect.
Treo 650!
I 'v try almost everything Nokia, qtek9090 qteq9000 qtek9100 Treo 180, treo 270 treo 600 and treo 650
Well Treo wins al over the line.
You by the device to make a call and to rely on this well that is what treo do for you. No reseting downloading new eproms etc. But jst use this device to make you call's, agenda, e_mails etc ....
Just using ONE HAND.
My opinion for best Smartphone of the year is Nokia N70. It has 2MP camera. Symbian Series 60. Mp3. Videa. 3G. Great memory. Memory Cards. 262k screen.
Qtek S100 and S110
They are the best of the best and they even can do PUSHMAIL and STEREO OVER BLUETOOTH! so WHY whould i buy another one ?
cheers from www.smart-resource.com
The BlackBerry 8700c/r, solid, reliable, best email, very good and fast browser, best speakerphone and high quality phone in general, Bluetooth 2.0 fast and responsive, small with a great bright color screen with light sensor and great battery life.
ppc-6700
Treo 650
Still the best smartphone out there.
HTC Universal/iMate JasJar/XDA Exec/MDA Pro whatever you want to call it.
Treo 650
Cingular 2125, HTC... 650 sucks, palm os shouldn't be considered for the smartphone catagory. More like dumb phone, that way there is a proper place for Symbian and Palm! I kid, I kid. But seriously the HTCs are all way better than any Treo.
Sony Ericsson P910-Phone first, PDA second (aka "not a PDA with phone software")
Cell phone with good reception, Opera browser, 1 GB capacity (64 mb onboard), MP3 Player (Ogg and AAC support with additional apps), support for Symbian Open Source apps (calculator tools, games, ebook support, maps, etc--many downloadable for FREE), biggest screen on a phone that looks like a phone, WIDEscreen video, Bluetooth that works with more than a headset, camera (not the best but if you have a smartphone you can probably afford a 5mp camera-go for it sport), Sync, AND THE BEST PART--never having to peck at those little buttons to get an SMS out, write a note or input contacts (on screen handwriting recognition out of the box-get this, you actually just write the person's name and info into the contact slots-WOW-what a concept)
There's more as far as design is concerned (you know, having real keys to dial people's numbers with) but I'll leave it there.
My Treo owning friends all gawk at my P910. Too bad the carriers in the US don't pick it up for their lineup. P910 gets my vote.
Nokia 6682
treo 650 ftw
Palm treo 650 - elegantly simple
HTC Universal
The SPV 600 by HTC. (At least that's what it's called in the UK, it goes by other names in other places.)
E-ten M600
I nominate the Treo 650. This phone slaughtered the competition.
Treo 700w
Best thumboard under the sun, definitely it'll be Treo 650.
