Another "video iPod" surfaces online
Dear readers: We thought that we
were all of a common mindset regarding these purported video iPod pics- mainly,
that we're all quite sick of them by now. But judging by the number of tips we received on this latest claimant, it
seems that there is still a surprising amount of demand for being fooled by Attack of the Show-style hoaxes. That
being said, and keeping in mind how unlikely it is that someone snapped such good photos of such a secretive device, we
hereby present you with some more grist for the rumor mill: MacShrine-scored pics of that mythical Jobsian gadget which
occupies far more waking time than can possibly be healthy. Keep reading to see more of what is definitely, absolutely,
positively, without-a-doubt a picture of something.

Probably fake, but very nice photoshop job to whoever did it.
PHOTOSHOP
I hope one of these really comes out.
first post! and those are fake as all hell--the face is flat like the 5g in the first photo and rounded over like the 4g in the second photo.
Those pictures look fairly convincing, but if you look at the one in the hand, it looks like it was photoshop. There is a clear distinction that separates the two "halves" of the video screen. I believe that line would be in the same place that the video screen ends on a 5G iPod.
PHOTOSHOP for real!
*sigh* its like those bullies who tease us constantly about something we want..
ok, we get it.. ppl want this product.. and... although i must admit that those pictures are really well done (the screen reflection on the iPod Hifi for example) the question is why?
they already pi$$ed off hundreds of thousands of ppl who invested in a PPC iMac, why would they pi$$ off the millions who just upgraded to an iPod video? its not smart business.
Here's hoping its real. It looks pretty good, the crisper the image should make it easier to determine if its a fake or not, right? I'll buy it for a $1.
Touch just doesn't seem like a good idea. Your going to put your greasy fingers all over the screen.
G$
I was waiting for engadget to add this!
Anyway, anyone new to the discussion might want to head over to digg and see the talk going on at that place:

Those photos are very convincing. After looking at shadows, reflections, converging lines and exposure I have to say, this looks real.
fake - Ice Age 2 (the movie on it) is not a) out or b) a pixar creation.
why would they put out a commercial for pixar's rival?
I'm holding up on buying an iPod video right now because I'm waiting for the new ipod video to be released on April. I hope I'm not waiting without a reason.
If you open the images in notepad to view the coding, the first thing you see is the word PHOTOSHOP. There's no question that the came from Photoshop.
they added the original pics from their camera.
they also claim that they have not reduced them
might actually be a .01% chance this is real!!!

As sad as it is to say this, its fake,on the first picture on the macshrine site the disance between clcikwheel and right of ipod is differne to the gap between bottom of clickewheel and bottom of ipod on the last picture. Sonds confusing but its obviou that the clickwheel will be in the smae place in both formats. Have alook at the pictures in the site if im confusing you.
I work as a usability and customer experience researcher. If this is even close to something apple may offer it is a huge mistake. Users do not want functional aspects of their device inhibiting their viewing of an interface. If you are using a device to watch movies on it you want to watch the movie not the RW Play and FFWD button cluttering and obscueing your experience.
Its funny how people are quick to yell out "photoshop" not knowing if its truly is photoshop, its gotten so bad that i think you show a real pic and these people will yell out photoshop for the heck of it. as for the picture I dont know what to believe, my head hurts from all these "leaked pictures"
Fake!
If only these photoshop wizards used their powers for good instead of evil
But the dark side is all powerful.....
P.S. an Apple PMP would only be good for one thing. It'd make the prices on competitors cheaper. I saved 80 on an X5 after the 5G came out!
fake. faker than fake. The 2nd pic doesn't look real at all. The 1st one looks cool though.
It doesn't make sense to put a virtual click wheel on the screen. You how fast people will scratch up the screen?
Make it stop already!
All these sad little people that run around proclaiming that Apple WILL do such and such on should be taken on live TV and castrated if they are wrong. Just think, the world would be a much better place if we did that to the retards that proclaimed the iBook w/ intel, new video iPod have already been released this year. They're just invisible so you can't see them.
Definitely Photoshop. Just look at how the screen on the second photo differes in the first and the second halfs.
"It doesn't make sense to put a virtual click wheel on the screen. You how fast people will scratch up the screen?" by Ein.
Thats probably the reason why apple will not release a fully touch screen ipod.
#11, go to the iPod nano site, iTunes part ( http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/autosync.html ) and look that notebook.
It's a HP Notebook running Windows XP.
Must be a PowerBook(or iBook, MacBook) running OS X, musn't?
do we accually want somthing like this ? when you play a movie full screen it looks like the wheel control is burn in the screen and it kinda distracting it would be nice if the controll is invisable when you play a movie
"fake - Ice Age 2 (the movie on it) is not a) out or b) a pixar creation.

It is probably a trailer. The trailer is available from Apple.
"I work as a usability and customer experience researcher. If this is even close to something apple may offer it is a huge mistake. You do know that if this is real then the clickwheel would probably disappear after a few seconds similar to when you watch a movie in windows media player on full screen and the cursor and border disappears.
Also in reply to post 4, if you look at the full size second picture you will see it is not rounded, it's just the clear layer on top that makes it look like that from the angle shown.
The clip is from the ice age II trailer, available from front row or the quicktime website. If it's photoshop it's really good, there are even little lines across the display (the bottom photo), just like in real photos of LCDs.
I liked it, but it's a photoshop...
>>4. Look at the left corner of the iPod in the second photo. The edge is consistent with all of the other photos. You just need to look carefully.
>>17. I doubt the wheel and progress bar are ever-present when viewing video. They probably appear only when the screen is touched, so that the user may access the interface if necessary. It disappears within a few seconds of removing the fingers from the screen. If you've used DVD playback software on a computer (in fullscreen mode), you should know that this mode of operation works very well.
Apple will release soemthing like this, and it will release a new about about every 6 months. This is because the ipod is abusing the rules of cool. In order to keep the status of the ipod cool they release new ones very soon. Because they do not piss of their users they only create a desire in their user to not be left behind in the race of cool.
If anything, if these do turn out to be fake, the bar has been raised. The higher-res images are exceptionally well done - which raises my main skepticim as to the legitimacy of these. Becuase the high-res ones ARE so impressive, why weren't these released initially? I might buy the bandwidth agrument if this was 1994.
And unless Apple has stumbled upon I-Fusion, what's the battery life on these things going to look like? 20-30 minutes max? That's where I'm really not buying this - cause it all just looks (and sounds) far, far too good.
Get a life people.

HAHA FAKE! Why is ALL EXIF data missing? The answer is simple: I've used exif modifying programs and this is Exactly what it shows you if you erase all exif data.. Good photoshop, but sadly not so intelligent hoaxers.. ;)
Without the sleigh texture edges of the touch sensitive wheel, how would you be able to navigate the thing in your pocket? I don't want to take my iPod out every time I want to click to the next track or adjust the volume a touch.
I like it when people say it's fake just because it was saved from Photoshop
Ah well, ever since I watched that "how-to-photoshop-an-iPod-video" I've never been the same...
Look at the thumb in the second shot, and the film grain doesn't quite match up (same in third).
Interestingly, the page you linked to shows a PowerBook running OS X when viewed on a Mac, and an HP Laptop running XP when viewed from a PC. If you look at the source code, Apple has CSS classes "showmac" and "showwin" so that elements of that page (and probably others) are different for Mac and PC users.
Here are links to both images:
http://images.apple.com/ipodnano/images/synctopwin20051011.jpg
and
http://images.apple.com/ipodnano/images/synctopmac20051011.jpg
The equivalent page for the regular iPod shows an iMac on a Mac, and that same PC laptop on a PC.
Anyway, I agree that these pictures seem fake. I'm also getting tired of all these (very similar) fake iPod video pictures.
I'm saying it's fake because there are no fingerprints on the screen even though it is allegedly sporting a movie trailer that must have been selected using the touch screen (I don't see a remote anywhere...)
I think it's just a 5G with a nice pic photochopped in. I hope the next photoshopper waits until apple has a nice remote and shows that being used to select files.
So they had time to take these great pictures, but no one had a modern cell phone to get some video of it in action? Plus the screen reflection on the handheld shot doesn't look quite right.
thanks to our little friend who showed us how he did the original photoshop, thousands now know how to do it themselves, i cant trust anything untill i see it in person
Honestly, if apple released this as the True Video Ipod then they would make sure that the click wheel didn't scratch up easily. Have you guys ever used a table pc? They look great even with scratches or smudges. AND on the current video ipod i have my screen has alot of scratches and smudges but as soon as I boot up a movie they practically dissappear and they NEVER get in the way. Those screens are just too bright, thats why the current ipods dont let you turn down the brightness for video viewing. Just a thought...
Second screen looks like FF7 advent children ~
I think its very important to try to figure out why in GODS NAME you would photoshop an image and use a hand with such rediculious man-nails. Or such a manly looking woman's hand, if thats the case. Either way, weird.
I would have to say that the picture with him holding the device makes the device look pretty good even though its obviously fake.
can anyone explain the "mystery fuzz" or "mystery shadow" in the top right corner of the ipod in the second picture? if it were casting a shadow on the wall, its too sharp. if its a poor photoshop job, what moron would leave such an obvious tell?
also, everyone keeps saying that the middle of the second ipod picture looks split, but could that just be a reflection of the ceiling?
and could someone name me a camera model that you're able to take a picture with ease with your LEFT index finger?
Anyone care to check the exif?
Dun Dun Dun...
