Toshiba Qosmio G30 to hit UK in April
We really wish it was a US price
and launch date they were announcing, but Toshiba looks locked and loaded to loose the Qosmio G30 on
the UK some time in April for the princely sum of 2,300 (~$4,000 US). We know this thing packs in some sweet features
(most notably, of course, its HD DVD drive, as well as a 2GHz Core Duo processor, 17-inch 1920 x 1200 display, dual
120GB RAID drives, DVB-T tuner, TV tuner, etc.), but damned is that a bank breaker for the back breaker. Guess having
every single possible feature you can possibly imagine in a single laptop (no word on HDCP-output, however) comes at a
cost.

This is not exactly cutting edge. There is a higher clock frequency (>2.0 GHz) for the core duo chip.

I've never really liked Toshiba laptops for some reason.

By spec, perhaps not top-of-the-line. Build quality and the overall package (e.g. 120Gx2 HDDs) might put it on the top of most people's wishlist?
Any owners of G20s out there got anything to share?

With dual hard drives, the battery in that will last fr what? 10 minutes? seems like a moderm version of strong bad's laptop, if y'all know what that is

I think the Lappy has a 5 minute battery span.

The Dell i9400 i'm sitting behind right now matches the spec's of that thing and costs about 50%. [actually has a 256mb 7800 video card] (dosen't have the RAID setup, but i can live without, i guess a firewire raid would be just as good)
/gets 1 hour battery life :(
//big screen is great for development work
///games great with the 7800 series card
////will be blind in 2 years...

Man Oh Man....I have a Qosmio G25 that I've had for 6 months now, that I absolutely love. Bought mine to replace a desktop at home, yet still be SEMI-Portable.
Needless to say, I'll be envious of the new G30 Owners.

Your dell doesn't have 2 120gb hard drives, and no, it also doesn't have HD DVD player. Yeah, your dell is missing a regular tv tuner and a digital tv tuner too.

Looks great!
Like a better looking Thinkpad or something.

galaxie, your Dell i9400 has an HD-DVD drive and an HDTV Tuner in it?
George @ Mar 8th 2006 11:47AM
Well, I think we can get much better stuff on a desktop at this price. better everything. why should we carry a such heavy thing around? but it exists here for some reason. let buyers judge it!
