D-Dock turns D-Snap MP3 player into home audio system

If you're going to build a system that turns a portable audio player into a home system, you can do it in the most minimal way possible, providing little more than a powered speaker, or you can max it out, adding a full range of features and enhancements. Panasonic, unlike some other makers of digital audio players, has taken the latter route with its D-Dock, a home system for the company's SD card-based D-Snap players. The system doesn't actually let you dock your D-Snap, but rather provides a slot for the player's SD card, which means it should work with other SD-based portables as well. It also includes a 5-disc CD or DVD player and a Mini Disc player. Yes, you read that right. This is a Japan-only unit, and for the country's thousands of diehard MD owners, this provides a one-button solution for ripping their MDs to SD cards for use on the road.
