PlayStation 3 will ship with 60GB HDD as standard
This week
when Sony came clean about the PS3 delay they also mentioned that an
upgradeable 60GB hard drive would be coming to at least some units, but they've now confirmed that 60GBs will be
standard and upgradeable from there. This is according to Yahoo! Games, and we're not clear if you'll be required to
purchase and upgrade a 60GB model, or if larger capacities will be available bundled from the get go, but this does
mean that developers are at least guaranteed a decent bit of hard drive space to play around with. It all lines up with
Sony's media centric ideas for the PS3 as well, but there's no word on how this will affect the pricing for the console
that has already been rumored -- however wrongly
-- as astronomical.[Via Joystiq]

Ray Ray Ray...
If Microsoft ends up dominating the console market then thats it for me, I will move to Sussex & keep bees.
Nice list Ray, though you forgot to add 'GAMERS LOSE' after "xbox 360 & PS3: winner will also be Microsoft."
Since the 360 came out the word 'Microsoft' took on a whole new meaning for me.............

Bring back SEGA!!!!
Come ooooooooooon with the PS3 already Sony! I just bought this TV (http://www.tacp.toshiba.com/televisions/product.asp?model=72mx195)
in January specifically for the PS3. Will this one work good? ;^P...
#48 & #49 Absolutely!
For companies like Apple, Linux, etc going up against Microsoft has been like boxing Lennox Lewis blindfolded - with your arms tied behind your back.
Bill Gates' idea of a level playing field is a very steep hill (really a cliff) with MS sitting at the top & everyone else shackled at the bottom with their feet set in concrete.
"20. You people are forgetting that a given graphics render in 720p (xbox360 standard) needs a quadrupling in processing power to output in 1080p(PS3 standard). So none of this "PS3 will look barely better than 360" i-dont-know-shit talk."
That's right. That also means that processor power is wasted on providing 1080p instead the actual game. Several devs already say that 1080p is completely impractical and they cannot get good framerates at that resolution. They will stick to 720p and let the unit upscale. A non-video elitist would be very hard pressed to decipher the difference between 1080i and 1080p anyway!
Why does Sony press these functionalities when in practice they are useless? I love the idea of dual monitors (my PC already does it), but it isn't practical for a gaming console that will be hooked to a TV. 1080p is a fluke, and Linux won't do the regular consumer any good (not to mention Sony's spin on Linux is bound to be horrible...LET ME CHOOSE THE DISTRO I WANT...oh wait the cell ruins that possibility for now). Wireless should be optional. I don't want to pay for all this unnecessary functionality.
Sony is shooting for too much with the PS3. It doesn't even seem like a game console anymore. Not that I'm not interested to check it out, but Sony doesn't exactly keep their promises. I guess I'll find out as soon as they have an exclusive game I want.
Hey Ray, you forgot one. . .
