Samsung Q35 - "world's smallest" Core Duo laptop
What do you do when you're a little late to the party, and still want to make sure you catch a bit of buzz? If
you're Samsung, you don't just announce that your Q35 is a Core Duo laptop; after all, other companies have been
announcing their Core Duo rigs for months. You declare it the "world's smallest" Core Duo box, and trumpet
the fact that it weighs about 4 pounds, has a 12-inch widescreen display, and still manages to pack in a T2700
processor, 512MB of RAM and an 80GB hard drive. There's also a DVD burner, WiFi, Bluetooth, Ethernet and Firewire. And,
of course, since Samsung laptops aren't sold in the US, we assume that within a few days we'll hear an announcement from
someone else for the "world's smallest Core Duo laptop that you can actually buy."

Is that an antenna sticking out or are you just happy to see me?
Benson Leung @ Mar 22nd 2006 11:28AM

Bubba @ Mar 22nd 2006 11:36AM
The antenna is for AM reception. Koreans really like the retro look.
Jihun Ju @ Apr 18th 2007 7:56PM
Do U konw DMB? Digital Multiple Brodcast..
This antenna is for DMB and not AM OK?
DMB is available to be working in Korea anywhere.

I have this feeling though that the ibooks wont be running a core duo, only a core solo.
aws910 @ Mar 22nd 2006 11:48AM
Won't be sold in the US? One word for that: Dynamism
Peter @ Mar 22nd 2006 12:01PM
I thought Dynamism only imported from Japan...

Since when did not selling in the US mean it's not being sold at all? I hate it when Americans act like this. Samsung is a South Korean company and there's no reason why they have to sell every product they make in the US. Get over it.

4 pounds? Ars reviewed the Thinkpad X60 today which is only 3...
dead_roach @ Mar 22nd 2006 12:25PM
I was under the impression that Samsung agreed not to sell their branded laptops here due to a non-compete deal with Dell (and maybe others). Samsung supplies a lot of parts for American-branded laptop manufacturers, and if memory serves the Dell X1 laptop is actually a re-branded Samsung.
andy @ Mar 22nd 2006 12:42PM
(matt) ibooks will come in same specs as mac minis, so both options will be available solo and smaller duo. - i bet my hairy yellow ass on it.
rasbill @ Mar 22nd 2006 12:49PM
Winnie
Cal @ Mar 22nd 2006 12:58PM
Um, the Toshiba M400 (core duo) is nearly the same size and is a convertible.
Flux Amm @ Mar 22nd 2006 2:03PM
They have a suppply agreement with Dell which precludes their selling anything in the US which competes against Dell.
OK @ Mar 22nd 2006 2:27PM
The Sony SZ which is sold in the US is a core duo with a 13.3 inch screen and optical drive, that weighs either 4 or 3.7 pounds depending on the version.
I doubt an iBook would be smaller, the current 12 inch iBook weighs almost 5 pounds!!!

I tell ya Samsung has some of the best Booth Babes I have seen anyone have a site dedicated to samsung Booth babes or models.
Mustafa Syed @ Mar 22nd 2006 3:23PM
Y does any post any where abt any computer eventually end up with people saying apple is better.. if they rocked so much.. they would have had bigger market share.
Dudley @ Mar 22nd 2006 3:49PM
This Samsung baby will also play your DVDs without powering up Windows...which I'm loving.
Navid @ Mar 22nd 2006 5:04PM
Nice peppers!
Matt @ Mar 22nd 2006 8:08PM
I would think they could have gotten a hotter model to display the worlds smallest duo laptop
Santiago @ Mar 23rd 2006 1:33AM
peppers? this is what we are buying ultra-small notebooks for? peppers!
christopher @ Mar 23rd 2006 3:26AM
That antenna from the laptop is for DMB.. I think.
So US version, if ever come out, won't have that antenna.
1w @ Mar 23rd 2006 6:41AM
That antenna's for DMB, not AM reception
chemp @ Aug 19th 2006 7:27AM
