Toshiba Qosmio G35 with HD DVD to launch this week for $3K
After showing it off for close to six months, Toshiba is finally ready to drop the Qosmio G35, the company's first laptop with a built-in HD DVD drive. Toshiba is expected to show off the box at E3 today, and will begin selling it on its web site later this week for about $3,000. In addition to its HD DVD player, the G35 includes a 2GHz Core Duo processor, two 100GB drives, 1GB RAM and an Nvidia GeForce Go 7600 with 256MB. The 10-pound portable features a 17-inch display, and comes with Windows XP Media Center Edition.

I have the older model of the Qosmio, it's gorgeous in piano black and it's one the best reviewed laptops on the net. This one is a significant upgrade with double the video card ram, core duo and an increase in hard disk capacity. The screen is far brighter than most 17 inch screens, including Apple's.

I thought windows XP didn't have support for HD-DVD, and they were adding it in Vista.

I would be suprised if Vista could run on that?
I thought you need a 'Super Computer' to run it smoothly.
A spec like that will most likely get a 4/10 rating of Vista's rating system...which is silly as it has power.

My goodness that is a beautiful system. I've only played around with the Qosmio at Best Buy and other than the little volume wheel (the silver circle to the right of the keyboard)being easy to accidently touch and change volume, its a wonderful computer. I especially liked the touch controls for the movie functions. One disappointment from the looks of the picture is the lack of a numerical keypad... but oh well, still a beautiful system.

Isn't a "10-pound portable" an oxymoron?

Has noone else noticed that vaguely sexual wallpaper or is it just me that needs to get out more?
Looks like some freakish tounge or cyber-appendage.
Hehehe

oh wait! this doesnt support HDCP...so this wonderful HDDVD drive will play HDDVD's in...yes folks, 480P! Wow! we've been doing that for years now. yawn. WASTE of money.

It will play on the 17inch screen so it doesn't need a cable you idiot. It's not 480p you fool. It's HD and that's why they all it HD becaue it is HD. Otherwise, they wouldn't have called it HD. Think about it.
