Samsung adds Premium Anyview plasma TVs with DVRs
Samsung has just upped the ante in its ongoing "anything-you-can-do-we-can-do-better" battle with LG. While LG's most recent plasma and LCD TVs with built-in DVRs had hard drives that topped out at 250GB, Samsung's new 42 and 50-inch Anyview models have 300GB of storage. Yeah, an extra 50GB is hardly a big deal (unless you run out of space while recording the season finale of "Lost," that is). But it lets Samsung thumb its nose at its crosstown rival -- for a few days at least. We have no doubt that LG will hit the market with a 500GB model very soon.

Samsung and LG are fighting toe to toe in Korea.
Samsung bosses are expecting to have $10 billion from TV sales this year- an all time record for Samsung. LG has already seen dramatic improvement in the sale of plasma TVs and in the first 3 months of this year, LG could ship 730,000 plasma sets and this figure is 13% higher than the same period of 2005 (http://asianbiz.blogspot.com/2006/05/world-cup-football-2006-coaching.html)
I followed the link to the akihibara news and the flat panels look enormous! Either they're larger than 42" and 50", or they are using really tiny and cute Korean women. I've been waiting to get another flat panel for the fact that my current 42" Samsung doesn't have a HDMI connector. I'm also waiting for DirecTV to come out with thier 2nd-gen MPEG-4 HD-DVR but this might be a good solution.
those black bezels look very nice. Why edit out the cute model?
What it all comes down to is this: Who makes the better microwave oven?
What good is a big ol' TV if you can't eat frozen food in front of it?
Yes what Samsung and Lg won't tell you is that these built in dvr's won't work with digital cable or satalite.
The first photo on the link might be a 50" with the integrated DVR., However, the second, a 63" is not, it's just a regular HP-S6373D.
That's true #5: HDTVs with integrated DVRs will only record over the air broadcasts.
These new Samsungs are very stylish. unfortunately, they are not that good in terms of quality and after-sale service.
