MSI releases 12.1-inch, dual-core S271 laptop

MSI has just released another 12.1-inch dual-core laptop, and the specs seem very similar to their S262 ultraportable that we spotted earlier this year, except that the Core Duo processor has been replaced with an AMD Turion 64 X2. Like the S262, the S271 ships with integrated graphics, 256MB or 512MB of RAM (expandable to 2GB), 4-in-1 memory card reader (really just 2-in-1, as it accepts only SD/MMC and MemoryStick/MS Pro formats -- where's the xD love?), and a "Super Multi DVD" drive, but manages to shed a few ounces and add a 200GB HDD option. Available immediately, this model will set you back around $1,500.

Lol, had the same thought. If that's a 12.1" screen, then the one with the (oh-so-hot in an only slightly geeky kinda way) MSI tat on her stomach is about 4'8" with a 20" waist. Not that I'm complaining...

I think it's great that companies are churning out the powerful ultraportables... but I'm waiting for one with a decent discrete graphics chipset a-la Dell XPS M1210.

Re: The chicks... halfway decent at best to any Asian living in Asian countries. The girls in the pic are prolly the desperate, whoring types who are after corporate money. Real lookers are plucked off the street, go on stage and sing for a living without having to bare their cleavage, or indeed, their butts. (Yep, just like Avril Lavigne, only prettier.) And for the record, the S271 comes with ATI RS485M. Look up the benchmark, it's nothing like what you see in a pwn-by-Intel-950 MacBook. And for those who think this is ugly, you obviously haven't seen a Dell or even an Acer.
