LG's XNOTE S1-P555K laptop with HD DVD player
Somewhere in the world LG is showing off their new XNote S1-P555K laptop sporting one of them newfangled HD DVD players. No surprise to see non-Blu-ray product rolling out of LG after inking that HD-DVD patent sharing deal with Toshiba. She's said to tote a 1680 x 1050 pixel resolution, Core Duo processor, ATI X1600 graphics with 256MB dedicate VRAM, Component video, and of course, that sweet, sweet HD DVD love. And with a "15.1-inch" screen, this lappie can almost be classed as ultra-portable when compared to the 17 and 20 plus-inch HD DVD beasts rolled out thus far. However, judging by that picture, Akihabara News either made a typo or that model is crazy small. Taking linear perspective into account, we're leaning towards the former dontchathink? Be your own judge and check the snaps after the break.
Update: We tracked down the (unlinkable) press release and yeah, she's damn small. That's a 15.4-inch HD DVD laptop with numeric keypad, aight.

I dunno - the model might be small... but is that a number keypad I see on that product shot?

The screen size is clearly a typo, as the keyboard shows a separate numeric keypad. Must be at least a 17 inch display.

Why the heck are HD-DVD/Blu-ray laptops coming out with less than HD resolution screens? It's not like 1920x1200 at 17 inches is a technical impossibility (Dell used to have that resolution available on their 15 inch displays). Seriously, what's the deal?

from the size of the laptop in the last pic and the numeric keypad I'd say it's definitely a 17"er. Also 1680x1050 is not an HD resolution, however I frequently watch HDTV on my 21" gateway LCD with the same resolution and there isn't any noticeable loss in image quality. I would image that on a smaller display the difference between 1680x1050 and 1080p would be even less noticeable. There are 17" 1080p screens around, however I'm sure they're much more expensive.

Do YOU come with the laptop??!
:p

kool stuff, hopefully it's not going to be too expensive. Boo the screen display is only 1680*1050.

Looking at the girl and then judging the screensize you can clerly see that its a 15" screen. The other S1 models are 15" and there IS 15" screens with that resolution. There is loads of space by the keyboard on a widescreen 15" laptop and the difference here is that they used that extra space for some other keys. Look at the other S1 models first.

The screen size is NOT a typo. This is actually a 15" with a numeric keypad. The other 15" S1 models have the same keyboard layout. Google it. You'll find specs.
