Solestrom's new UV-detecting bikini
It's summertime, folks, which means funtime summery stuff like blankets, beach balls -- even bikinis -- get upgrades. Though not the first of its kind, the $190 Solestrom UV-metering bikini, which happens to look like something straight out of a Bond film, tells you where the sun's at on the UV scale from 0 to 20 and when you're done crisping -- which for pale n' pasty pushovers such as ourselves is pretty much as soon as we walk outside. And do deposit that wagging tongue, gentlemen; titillating though this post may be, we aim keep it clean 'round these parts.[Thanks, Michael]

Can you program it for your skin type to get a better indication for when to head inside? You might have addressed this in the article but for some reason I couldn't manage to read it.

That sure is an ugly bikini. Since this is a gadget blog though, I guess the coolness of the feature is what counts though ;)

i agree, it is pretty cool but it does look pretty ugly. not something i can see many girls wearing (it looks bulky)..

check out www.uv-x.com under the color change cap.
I need honest opinion to see if it make sense to launch sun protection - color change (as indicator) bikini (yes, the fabric is much thinner); maybe also the beach and outdoor gears. Your valuable input is greatly appreciative.

Engadget going soft-porn on us? Steve uncovered it, so to speak...
Nothing to see here, move along, move along.

Suprised it took so many comments to comment on the hotness in the bathing suit. Come on computer geeks, Engadget rocks the pretty ladies!!!
