Hey Mr. DJ, we thought you said we had a deal? You scratch our back and we'll scratch your USB flash drive connected to our turntable, right? Not unlike rival
Numark,
Denon is now sporting a digital turntable, the DN-HD2500. It's got support for additional USB peripherals, such as a flash drive,
iPod, or external hard drive. It's got
dueling CD spinners, your usual faders, and what appears to a slick little screen in the middle of the whole setup for song queuing and beatmatching. But the best feature on the new Denon device is that in order to supply that screen with your favorite tunes, the turntable packs an internal 2.5-inch hard drive. No word on the price yet, but if Denon wants to win this DJ contest, it'll have to spin lower than $799.
Hah, I like the They Might Be Giants reference in the first line.
Go Geek Rock!
Nice They Might Be Giants reference!
does this thing have pitch control? cuz without it, its useless...
*bows*
We all need more TMBG references in our lives, don't we?
Yo, get with it, grandpa - this isn't a "digital turntable"...its simply an HD/CD player. There's nothing "turntable" about it.
"Denon is 'now' sporting a digital turntable?" Denon has been making digital turntables for years not mate.
Not to mention that a single digital table from Denon, Numark, or Pioneer generally runs in the neighborhood for $699, and yet you are asking for a complete dual table setup with mixer and built in hard drive to be priced at $799. That would be nice, but probably a very tall order.
Squid - your knowledge of dj equipment doesn't extend beyond the idj posts here, apparently. If you knew thing one, you would look at the pitch fader on this unit and keep quiet.
Like most Denon setups, this is just your dual CD player setup, there is no mixer. That would be another $200 usd. It's "basically" the same thing they have been producing for years instead the scroll wheel works as your scratch pad now as well. I prefer a bigger platter to mix with, but if this suits your preferences, I bet it works pretty well.
Oh, and Scott Scratch...
I bet the term "Digital tunrtable" is used in reference to its ability to mix/scratch CD/MP3. Obviously, you aren't slapping your old Biz Markee LP on there and going to town.
This looks pretty decent, and something i might actually use to DJ with, especially as it'll support external drives.
Comparing an offering from Denon with one from Numark is not nessisarilly accurate, Numark along with Gemini and a few others make "budget" DJ equipment, whereas the likes of Dennon and Pinoneer make higher end stuff. Denon and pioneer equipment are what clubs use, Numark is what your bedroom DJ, or hotel "disco" uses. they are in a different league.
I predict it being more expensive than the Numark offering, becuase it will be better build quality and Dennon just charge more because they can.
Ohmz - Numark are now at the top of the DJ manufacturer food chain and bringing out products that other companies can only dream of. Calling them "budget" and "bedroom" is a little wide of the mark. They do cater for a wider range of DJ budgets - not just premium products - but when you look at products like the TTX, CDX, HDX, iDJ2 plus all the new digital video products, it's clear that they've moved on way beyond the bad rep they suffered a good while back.
Still isn't as cool as Scratch in my book. Alot of DJ's have switched to this here in Austin, and it is really, really cool.
In a nutshell, you use your existing turntables, put on their special Album, and run the output to your PC. You then use those to control the MP3s on your pc. No more crates of records, but you still have the exact level of control you had with your Techniques.

Denon says that the price will be under $1000 (knowing them, that means $999) and will be available in January 07.
Hi,
Does anybody know what connections are available on the rear of the new DN-HD2500 ?
It looks like digital coaxial should be available, can anybody confirm this ?
Cheers.
numark is well budget!
