Custom laptop designs are a dime a dozen these days, with everything from
fast car logos to glorious "
Pink Feather" designs being stamped onto the back of LCDs in an attempt to draw the eyes of punters looking for a new lappie. The latest custom job on the market is Fujitsu Siemens' team of soccer themed laptops which don the colors and crests of four different UK clubs: Celtic, Aston Villa, Everton, and Tottenham Hotspur, to be precise. Under the soccer shirts, the laptops are Amilo 1536 models featuring 1280 x 800 15-inch displays powered by a 128MB ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 graphics adapter. Dig a little deeper and you'll find a 1.83GHz Core Duo processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, and a roomy 120GB 5400RPM SATA drive. Not quite striker material, we know, but the £1000 (plus three year warranty) price tag ain't too shabby considering the bundled paint job. Fujitsu Siemens is promising other clubs will join the line-up to celebrate the recent start of the Premiership season, although don't expect any teams with notable rivalries to be released at the same time. If you follow English football, you'll notice that the first four club themed laptops are a rather disparate lot: there's no Liverpool to go with Everton, no Rangers to go with Celtic, and so on. These guys obviously know how to manage their laptop teams without starting a football riot.

Sorry to break it to you but last time I checked it Glasgow Celtic were still in The Scotish Premiership and the other three were in The Premiership which consists as of writing only English clubs. Jeez get your facts right.
Anyway on the product I am quite disapointed that they are only offering customisations of four football clubs. What is a Manchester United fan (me) meant to do? Buy a Tottenham one? No! Fujitsu should offer more club customisations options.
I also noticed that the for teams are based in top four UK cities London (Tottenham Hotspur, the white one), Birmingham (Aston Villa the red/brown one), Liverpool (Everton, the blue one) and Glasgow (Celtic, the white and green striped one. Apart from Celtic they did not even bother choose the top clubs in the cities they could have gone with Arsenal or Chelsea for London, Liverpool FC for Liverpool and Birmingham City FC for Birmingham.

Birmingham bigger then Aston Villa?
Birmingham are in Championship and now that Randy Learner, with his millions to spend, has joined Aston Villa and with O'Neil at the helm how can you say that they are smaller then Birmingham - Jeez get your facts right.

Apologies ahead of time for getting technical on you...
You meant to say 15.4" 1280 x 800. It's a 16:10 aspect ratio LCD screen. On the other hand, 15" screens are 4:3 aspect ratio with common resolutions of 1024 x 768, 1400 x 1050, or 1600 x 1200.

I was just gonna say that...Celtic isn't in the Premiership.
Anyway, why didn't any of these massive laptop manufacturers think of this before? Sure they have to pay the team for royalties, but thats f*n peanuts compared to what they'll rake in. Plus they can bring out a new design every time they come out with a new kit, which is about four times a year!
Standing ovation for Fujitsu Siemens for tapping an untouched market!!!

I demand when they come out with the Liverpool one, it be faster and better than the Everton one.

Celtic is a scottish team, playing in the scottish league, while the other three are english football teams.
Ross @ Aug 26th 2006 5:01PM
Celtic, like others said, are not in the Premiership, they are infact in the SPL; Scottish Premier League.
There are bigger team i think should be in there, including my own team, Glasgow Rangers. You cant have one and not the other :P.

Actually Max is right when I wrote that for some reason I completely forgot that Birmingham had got relegated (I don't know why) but I don't buy the American billionaire story even though Martin O'Neil is a very talented manager I don't see them winning big honours this decade.
And why did they not get the licsence from the FA or FIFA so they could come out with more versions.

First off....where's ARSNEAL!!???
And second: Why would a Liverpool FC fan buy a custom laptop? Don't thugs just usually steal one??
Ok, now with my requsite jabbing out of the way, I think it's an idea that I'm surprised hadn't come before. Hell for years I've been able to buy everything from toolboxes to women's underwear with whatever football club crest on it. It was only a matter of when.
Besides, once they add a few more clubs and leauges to their selection, they're going to realize that in the world of custom laptops, these might actually have a chance of selling well.

It's nice to see an American site righlty calling Football by it's true name too lol.
Wolfrain @ Aug 26th 2006 9:11PM
Is it me but did the blogger correct his previosu mistakes, add new information about other clubs soon joining in and then giving criticism for not including rival clubs. Cheeky bugger.
Taylor @ Aug 26th 2006 10:14PM
It looks like there's a football riot regardless ;)
Zach Marshall @ Aug 27th 2006 12:41AM
oh man! I'm loving these, and that Celtic one looks sick as hell. I'm personally gonna wait for an arsenal one, but if it comes out - im so game (no pun intended)
rx @ Aug 27th 2006 4:24AM
Where's Liverpool FC laptop??
Hopefully they do not make the arsenal custom laptop, coz arsenal are suck
Ronaldinho-Overrated :( @ Aug 27th 2006 12:16PM
Hmm, they can rake in sooo much money if they expanded the foootball team options. Hell I'd buy Barcelona or Brazil if they offered them, maybe even a holographic paint that changes between the two symbols :) worth the money.... and yeah Ronaldinho is way overrated now :( not as good as back on Barcelona. Curious, after England dropped out of the Cup, who did you Brits root for?
Conrad Quilty-Harper @ Aug 27th 2006 12:17PM
Ronaldinho-Overrated, no-one. Everyone just moped around until after the World Cup had finished. It's the British way!
Martin @ Aug 27th 2006 4:48PM
You've all got your facts wrong, Celtic don't play in England, the Scottish Premiership or the Scottish Premier League.
They play in the Bank of Scotland Premierleague.
Jeez - get your facts straight.
