XM lovers rejoice! The FCC has finally determined that three XM radios with FM transmitters are in the clear. XM had to cease production
back in late May to give time to the Feds to check out its products. Specifically, the FCC approved the
Audiovox Xpress, the
Delphi RoadyXT and the XM Sportscaster. XM has notified its manufacturers to get those conveyor belts rolling again, just in time for the holidy shopping season, which, by the way, is due to start any day now. Now that XM is back on track, free Bob Dylan for everyone! Well, that's what we'd like for the holidays.
I've been wondering what happened to XM. Sirius seems to be releasing new models all the time. XM seems to be content with the models introduced last year.
I have the original XM2Go, and was seriously looking at the newer color model with the fixed antenna. My antenna is like 30 feet long.
XM realeased several new radios this year. The Pioneer Inno/Samsung Helix, The Samsung Nexus 25 and 50 as well as the AGT Sportscaster.
A new SkyFi is overdue, though and maybe a Roady with a half decent display. I think the Audiovox Xpress is the best plug and play reciever for the money from either company, though.
I don't really like Sirius but at least they have decent looking hardware that doesn't require a flatbed truck to haul around and a crane to pick up now. Their stuff is still bigger and hotter running, but the radios at least look competitive now.
I have listened to both XM and Sirius for a ton of hours and XM continues to be superior. The Music and all content is just much better on XM.
I agree with you decypher. Better equipment, too. The only reason I could justify Sirius is if you are a HUGE NFL fan who cannot watch the games on tv. Otherwise, I think XM has the edge in everything else.
So what does this mean for my INNO? Are they gonna let me use its FM transmitter without the stupid car dock?
