iPod nano box becomes DIY nano dock
Making a DIY dock out of a cardboard box or even the packaging your iPod came in is all well and good, but making a DIY iPod dock out of the old not-good-enough-for-Steve-anymore iPod you're replacing -- now why can't someone do that?

Just needs a good paint job and you've got something classy!

don't even need to repaint it, just replace the inner paper with a white or colored cardboard paper... pretty clever.

you wishing someone would hack up and old ipod is hardly gadget news. Keep it on point boys.

It's good to see how iPod users can be quite creative. :)

And how Creative can do iPods! ;-)

It's good that the new nanos come in those boxes. It would be harder to use the paper ones.

Because there aren't enough iPod docks?

I still don't understand what's so hard about just laying your iPod on the desk. It's not like there is anything on the screen worth seeing while it's syncing.

Wow, I didn't know the new nano box was so cute. But that's a really good use for it. Nice and sturdy too. But I do agree, a nice paint job or some pretty tissue paper and some LEDs would make this stand out.

Why do I get the feeling that iPod docks are the new bongs?
"Duuude, you could totally make a dock outta that!"
Shet16 @ Sep 20th 2006 11:17AM

As soon as i saw the box mod, i was looking at my newly purchased nano, and contemplated doing just that.
Now that it's been done, i have no reason to wait.

maybe apple should get a clue from this and just make their next package a dock. should give them green points. i mean, after you graciously reduce the packaging to save landfills, why not actually make the packaging reusable like this? hmmm...

Hello, i was wondering what did you use to cut the box?
