Sony VAIO VGN-TXN10 brings the EV-DO Rev A
EDGE, smedge, prepare to taste the speed of EV-DO rev A folks as Sony and Sprint team-up on the ultra-portable VAIO VGN-TXN10. Previously, only available on Cingular's EDGE network, Sprint will be packin' their Power Vision network into this 2.8-pound, sub-incher giving subscribers 450-800 kbps downloads and 300-400 kbps upload speeds (on average) when they begin upgrading to Revision A. For their part, Sony brings that 11.1-inch widescreen display, Core Solo proc, WiFi, Bluetooth, up to 11-hours off battery, and dual-layer DVD burner with Instant Mode for soaking up media without the need to boot into XP. It's not clear when, exactly, this combo will all come come together, but the notebook will cost you about $2300 when this whole thing kicks off in Q4.

ALso this laptop is very well, but its price is too high. So I dont want to change my two years old vgn-fe550, I just buy a battery replacement VGP-BPS2C : http://www.laptops-battery.co.uk/sony-vgp-bps2c.htm

Excelent laptop!
FINALLY....Sprint IS Listening to the demands of their users.
1) Will one of these work with Verizon's EVDO
2) An opt. drive in a sub 3 pounder - is that a first (I know the old sony tx - but that was 3.1lbs)
3) can i have one?
i love this computer, im just waiting for them to introduce core 2 duo (maybe the ulv version) and a 64gb solid state hard disk (and why not wait for ddr3 too)and i will purchase this regardless of price.
oh and carbon fiber
Buyer beware: my first T series laptop died at 10 months and Sony wouldn't honor the warranty. Before it died, I bought another, TX, and it's been in for service twice in the first 6 months resulting in a new motherboard. Great concept, but "Not ready for primetime".
Where can i buy parts for this notebook. I really want the wwan card for my thinkpad. I already have the verizon one and i have sprint service.
Damn! I'm typing this on my six-week-old Sony TX850P, which I bought because I wasn't going to bother with EDGE while I have Sprint and Verizon Ev-DO cards.
I love the machine, though. Maybe I can pawn this one off on a co-worker when the Ev-Do model comes out....
