Samsung's M55 HD DVD laptop, yes HD DVD
Like Acer, and fellow "strong" Blu-ray supporter LG, Samsung is showing the hi-def crowd how to mix it up by opening their Blu-ray love affair to the HD DVD camp. Here we have their M55 -- formerly billed as the "world's thinnest and lightest 17-inch widescreen" at 30.5 ~ 34.4-mm thick and 2.99-kg -- only now packing some swank HD DVD action along with an apparent pixel increase to 1920x1200. Just to run down the rest of the specs on this: you get a glossy 17-inch display, 256MB GeForce 7600 Go graphics, up to 120GB of SATA disk, 802.11a/b/g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, a wide range of in and outs including HDMI and S/PDIF, and suite of SRS audio features all powered by an Intel T2500 Core Duo proc. No drop date but they should pull about €3,000/$3,810 -- yeah, we know. And yes, gentle readers, there is a woman in that photo, now please try to comment on the laptop, mkay? We don't want to get rough, see.

wow that is one HOT ... laptop.
What, there's a laptop in that picture?
not to derail the topic or anything, but search for "drop" and see how many times a day it's used
OK... I'll ignore that woman and focus on the lapto...
What the heck kind of animal is that on the video in the background?
...Is that one of their record-breaking HDTV's?
Oops!
...I like the shag carpet on the floor.
It's Ice Age [1] playing in the background.
that is one hottie... of course, i'm referring to the laptop.
That's one HUGE.....HD DVD disk that person is holding.......:)
With a girl like that in the picture, who really cares what she is promoting. I mean seriously.
And, judging from the last pic in the link, she's got some powerful tricep muscles.
If she'd smile at me like that, I'd buy the lappy ^_^
ohh there is somthing about a woman holding a cd that drives me nuts enough to whip out the credit card & order a pimped up laptop! :)
Doesn't she have to be getting off to school or something?
No. She's doesn't need to get to school. She needs to get to my bedroom.
nice ;) but so bad that samsung's notebooks are not available in north america. sooo bad because they make the exact notebook that I need and I didn't saw any other company that offer to choose a non-glossy or glossy screen.
Apple offer the choice of glossy or not in the Macbook Pro line, if that helps...
I feel obligated to say that I don't need Engadget reminding me that, yes, that is a woman in the photo as it's quite obvious that's what that is.
Just how nerdy do they think we are?
BABABOEY!! Damn get that girl on the sybian!!
come on man. if you go to Korea there are far more hotter girls than her.

Ckeck out the last 2 pics; off to the left there is a Pc but the top angles down.
Something on me is blue alright. And it ain't the blue-ray.
Yeah, it's slim, sexy and powerful, but there's something about the proportions of the base. Stretch that keyboard out and give me a proper ten-key number pad like HP does on its 17" Pavillion models. And yet it still looks like in order to get the model so slim, they basically stretched the hardware horizontally instead of stacking it. That's too much deadspace.
Gotta have a styl factor in your notebook lineup. Samsung don't got it.
oooh sprechen ze sexy.....the laptop i mean....yes....laptop
Awesome! and the laptop is not bad either!
wow..thats a nice set off lips on that...HD-DVD... disc...drive..?
sure, I'd like to lie on the shag and push its buttons, but I don't wanna catch a virus. Have to keep a mac on my lap instead.
Hey, I know there is a girl there too and she is beautiful! Maybe if they would put her on the screen of the laptop, I would be more interested.
