Sony VAIO L gets Core 2 Duo and Blu-ray burner
The CEATEC show generated some more Sony next-gen optical news this AM with the announcement of the VAIO L, now with Blu-ray player and burner. While they were tinkering, Sony went ahead and slapped in a 2.16GHz Core 2 Duo T7400 processor and gave the graphics a needed bump with an nVidia GeForce Go 7600. These additions to Sony's all-in-one PC with integrated TV-tuner will drive the cost up to ¥359,800 or about $3,058 when it hits the shelves in Japan starting November 6th. What, you do want Blu-ray don't you?

Can I have the same with an HD DVD burner ?
Kidding, don't flame me... speaking of flames, hope this thing doesn't have batteries in it...

wait...isn't the Go the laptop line of vid cards?
Did they use that to just save on size? that's silly.

I'd rather have a PC than a MAC, but the new iMAC 24-inch has a much bigger screen and is just as cool looking (kinda cooler, really) -- and it's cheaper -- than this Vaio.... So I'm waiting for the price to come down and/or the screen size to go up.... I haven't been able to find another pre-built/high-quality/cool-looking/small-form-factor PC like the Vaio, though....
And Blu-ray I can take or leave.... I do like the built-in TV tuner, but I need a dual PAL/NTSC card so the built-in NTSC-only card in the U.S. Vaio isn't as handy as a dual.... I'll have to get an external tuner anyway.... bler.
Has anyone found any other alternatives?

erm, a mac is a pc
how about you get that imac you think looks so cool and install windows.
of course, in the process you will check out OS X and that will pretty much make you wonder why you (and any one else) ever bothered with windows.
isn't serendipity great?
