Transcend announces 4GB and 8GB SDHC cards
Sure, it's not the first first 8GB SDHC card, but Transcend's is the, uh, second. Really, that's about all we can tell you about this class 2 card which, like their 4GB SDHC card also announced, means you'll get a guaranteed minimum data transfer rate of just 2MB/sec compared to Pretec's 8GB SDHC which touts access speeds up to 20MB/sec. Sorry no ship date or pricing information at this time but the Pretec is shipping this quarter for $299 if that's any consolation. [Via Impress]

I need the 8GB Card for my Nikon D80.
So why do you think that a card that has meets a standard requiring a minimum speed of 2MB/s is going to be slower than one that has speeds of upto 20MB/s?
As far as I can see neither of the cards actually say what their speeds are.
Well, according to some tests that I found on the Internet this card of class II reads ~20 MB/sec and writes ~16 MB/sec. It's far from 2 MB that this site shows.
Also it's not correct to compare the speeds like this site does:
"means you'll get a guaranteed minimum data transfer rate of just 2MB/sec compared to Pretec's 8GB SDHC which touts access speeds up to 20MB/sec."
It looks like somebody compares read and write speeds of different cards that is absolutely wrong. Also keeping in mind that this card is 93.99 on transcendusa.com today, it's not the worst choice anyway.
Are these likely to be compatible with the Wii?
Anything that can handle fat32 I'd bet have zero problems with this... I have a HP HX4705 pda and my 4gb SD works w/o any problems.
Anyone know of a cheapy MP3 player that can take this chip? Or a MP3/Cell Phone(unlockable) that can handle this?
Would be GREAT to buy this card, and be able to use it in my camera, pda, cell phone and MP3
How can i save from the 8gb SDHC card directlly to my computer?
