Samsung YP-T9 sneaks into the States
It's not like we weren't expecting it, but Samsung's Yepp YP-T9 player has finally been spotted in the US, though it's not exactly available yet. Best Buy has the 4GB player up for sale on their online store, but it's "backordered" for a week or two. The $199 pricetag lines up just fine with Apple's 4GB offering, but SanDisk's Sansa undercuts both of those at $179, so Sammy isn't getting any edge there. Luckily, the little player has gotten some decent review love, and it should be a decent option for those PlaysForSure Luddites that haven't yet jumped onto the hardware/software combo bandwagon, ala Apple, Microsoft and Real.

I hope those Best Buy stats aren't entirely accurate, it's missing the previously mentioned ogg support, bluetooth (might have only been special 'b' model) and ums. Without those features, I really don't see anything special about this player.
I work at BB and we just got them in, 2gb black and purple, and 4gb black, on saturday. We also got all capacities of the e200R in. So they are definitely avaliable for sale.
Vertigo, only the Asian model has BT. This is basically just an updated T8.
Seems strange that they would seek FCC approval for a feature they are ommiting from the US version. They'll probably release the BT version in a month or two.
According to CNET, it won't be avaliable here.
They have to get FCC approval for it now, because it currently has features that require FCC approval. This way, they can either not modify the product when it comes here, or omit the features, but at least if they do include it in the US release, they won't have to worry about approval at a later date.
Circuit City has the Creative Zen V Plus 4GB model for $179.99. For some odd reason they are not the website but i work at CC and 2 came in on Friday of last week.
Wow. That actually looks quite hot. I've got my (5th gen, not 5.5thgen) white video iPod, but I have to say I like the lines of that Samsung. I bet the UI is shit though. Still... good design... I'm glad to see other manufacturers are starting to pay attention to style like Apple has been doing for decades.
The z5 was never officially touted to have OGG support but it was included, I think this is mainly because WMP11 doesn't support it so they couldn't tell people OGG's worked in the same way as all mp3's and wma's. The Z5 definitely has OGG though as I'm using that right now and the T9 really better do to as I've ordered one already!
FM Tuner problem. The main reason we bought this was for the 'ease' of transferring all of my husband's cd's so he could enjoy his music over the radio. However, despite following the instructions, we can't make it do that. On some frequencies we can hear the tunes faintly but nothing that is even sub-par acceptable. Can anyone help?
