Alienware lends modicum of credibility to Phantom Lapboard
Yeah, yeah, we know that Phantom's Lapboard is supposed to be totally legit and whatnot, but it's hard not to doubt the legitimacy of any sort of product from a company that has produced vaporware with the incredible hype and consistency of the unabashed Phantom. Now that Alienware has ordered up themselves a bunch of these $130 Phantom Wireless Lapboards and Wireless Laser Mouse setups for sale with their Media Center PC and PC lineup, we suppose we'll have to admit that Phantom just might hit their projected November launch date after all. Of course, they could always pull a Sony and blame increased demand for some unforeseen delays -- we suppose we'll find out soon enough.

One more time to drill home the point. The Sony Reader IS available NOW. You can buy them in shops.

The ergonomics on this things are horrific. I can't believe that anyone who actually picks one of these up (provided they will ever be able to) will be in any way satisfied.

I have picked one up and used it at e3 2004. It is actually very comfortable and easy to use. You aren't going to use the keyboard much anyway, just the wasd keys for the most part. It's for FPS gaming, mostly.

The article appears to be a press-release from Phantom. I wonder if anyone has bothered to contact Alienware for confirmation.

How are you supposed to use the mouse & keyboard at the same time ?
It's not ergonomic at all.

Don't be so sure- Alienware has been having 6 week delays shipping hardware, namely to my company. I'm not convinced that their backing means anything these days...

Very sleek. I would like it a lot better if it had laptop-styled thin keys, though. Slim keyboards are the best.
