Wii unboxing photos hit the internets
While we're still counting the days until the Wii's launch throughout the Americas (November 19), our amigos south of the border managed to get ahold of one just a little sooner; apparently Mexican gamer mag Atomix got their hands all over a unit that was sent to its offices for testing purposes. Check out the various pieces, unboxed, on página segunda.

Pinche rio...
Dude.. MY COMPUTER looks very plastic too. I guess it's just a piece of shit then.
And the powerbrick isn't big. The Wii is just fucking small.
Fortunately for PS3 people, the powerbrick is in the PS3. Unfortunately for PS3 people, the PS3 is fucking huge.
NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!
KiwiNick, you're forgetting about Final Fantasy 12....TWELVE?!?!...
That said, I will probably end up getting both a Wii, and a PS3, or a X360...
And someone also mentioned the Wii for Vehicle use... Do you really want a bunch of 10 year olds flailing a controller around all over the place in the back seat? roflcopter.
Have you driven a car with kids in the back seat? They're flailing around anyway. Might as well limit them to the game.
Actually FF 12 is for PS2. Just another reason for me to not get a PS3 for a long while. I already got a 100 hour game (FF 12) for the PS2. That should keep me busy for MONTHS. That and Twilight Princess for the Wii!! ;)
Time for Operation Coyote.
Awesome. Can't wait to get my Wii.
Looks plastic because it's made of plastic. Imagine that!
RE: the PS3 vs Wii vs Xbox arguments. You're always going to get the same amount of crap titles on any of the consoles that you won't buy.
Noone is going to force you to buy the 7th game in the series, or whatever. A lot of titles get ported or developed for all the consoles, anyway.
RE: this guy.
"COOKING MAMA: COOK OFF... damn nintendo for that killer app man."
Compared to the no doubt endless supply of Mahjongg titles that will go with the PS3? Every system has their 'weiner' games. Just because YOU won't buy it doesn't mean noone else will.
Btw, that guy in the picture has what I call "gay eyes".
"gay eyes" huh?
how illuminating
I LOVE how people provide justification to any of the systems failing or succeeding. Wii's gunna fail cause I don't like the games and the power brick is too big. Or PS3 will fail cause it costs 600$ and and gets fingerprints on itself easily. Everyone grow up already. There both clearly have good and bad points, but to bitch and make inane speculation is sooooo pointless. Nobody is gunna be like "I don't want a Wii anymore cause this guy on the internet likes PS3 better" or vice versa. Who cares? Buy the one you want and shut up about it.
* Turning on my French language mode:
Wii Wii Wii ils auront, Altered Beast pour Nintendo oui!
(Pun Intended)
LOL
the power adaptor is half size of the wii loooool!!!
lame..
Yes the argument that the power brick is so big because Wii is so small is invalid. Ever hear of a ratio or a proportion? Yes the Wii is small but that power brick is 1/4 of the Wii (and probably weighs as much or even more). If the Xbox 360 had a power brick of the same proportions it would be a lot bigger. Sorta sad, I can't imagine it drawing that much power. My gateway laptop power brick is smaller than that.

You think you know something about ratio and proportions. So are you basing your statement on actual measurements of the brick and console? Or are you basing your statement on NOTHING but what you see in the picture? Idiot.
Yeah right an idiot with a PhD talking to some high school drop out. Guess what it doesn't take a tape measure to see that the power brick proportions relative to the unit is larger than than the brick/unit proportions of the 360. I'm not a fanboy just making an observation. My advice to you would be to quit trying to act so cool (and with a name like stricknine you must be really really cool) and fanboyish and go back to making my "SUBWAY" sandwich - IDIOT.
Why must someone be a fan of one of the three consoles? Can't each console have its pros and cons? Fucking people sound like democrats and republicans. Disliking something because you like something else? Yeah america ! Land of the ignorant fucktard.
I hope all the consoles do well. Competition drives down price and promotes innovation.
I'm a PC gamer but will probably get the Wii just for the novelty of the nunchuck. It might be a mistake but no one here can tell me either way as everyone likes what they like for whatever reason.
Lets choose sides on important issues that effect real problems in the world. Not some trumped up gaming console war that in 10 years no one will give a about.
"1 outta every 4 americans is a retard"
To whomever said that the PS3 would overheat after 3 hours of gameplay: I believe Engadget tested it and said that it didn't overheat at all, and that the ventilation did its job. Not a fanboy, just noting it.
Personally, I'm going to probably going to have all three systems, and I'll play each of them for whatever they're good for. I only play my 360 for the FIFA right now, but that's because I've beaten Oblivion and have yet to buy another game.
Stop calling flops or successes of these machines. If any of the big three flop, no one is going to come back to this post and find your post, just to congratulate you.
Also, please please don't write in stream of consciousness. Punctuation is included on the keyboard, and no, the ellipsis used 40 times over and over does not count as punctuation. A brief pause in structure would add so much validity to your arguement; right now, most of you come across as little 13-year-olds backing up whatever console your parent promised to buy you for Christmas.
"This Wii is even smaller than 2nd Gen PS2. :)..."
No, The Wii has a toal internal volume of 1,407.5 cubic cm, based on the approximate measures of 5x11.5x21cm plus the 200 cubic cm AC adapter. The PlayStation 2 SCPH-70000 series has an internal volume of around 1,000 cubic cm. The actual measurements are 23x3x15cm, which equals 1,035, but the measurements are based on the lengths at their longest point. But as you can see, the PlayStation 2 is not a perfect rectangular prism, therefore I have subtracted a few cubic cm. Now, there were no measurements for the AC adapter, so I did this on my own, and approximated that the AC adapter is around one third the size of the system itself, thus making it around 333 cubic cm, making a total of 1,333 cubic cm for the PlayStation 2 SCPH-70000 series, effectively making it smaller than the Wii.
"Actually, since the Wii is using far less power than the other 2 consoles (yes, I understand WHY it uses less power)it needs a bigger AC adapter to convert all that 120V to a much smaller voltage. This way the Wii won't blow out, or burn up your living room like the PS3 will. Well that is if Sony hasn't figured out that problem by now."
I'm not saying it's using more power. But the thing is, the PlayStation 3 will not burn up my living room, or anywhere else for that matter. The problem is people don't know how to take care of their electronics. The main reason why so many Xbox 360s were overheating wasn't because of a defective unit, but because people would put their AC adapters in places prone to overheating due to poor heat dissipation. The PlayStation 3 will not have this problem since it's designed so that three of its six main sides will have ventilation, and it will implement heat pipes for less moving parts and a quieter experience. In short, you will only hear what you want to hear.
"the fact that Nintendo has brought a next-gen console to market roughly the size of 3 stacked CD cases, that is completely innovative, revolutionary, gorgeous and fun does show me who implements the best technology. I hope you realize technology has little to do with graphics and everything to do with innovation.
PS3: Same shit, different resolution."
Not really, considering the PlayStation 2 SCPH-70000 series was smaller than the Wii, which by your logic would make it more innovative, revolutionary, and gorgeous. And no, it does not implement the best technology of the seventh-generation consoles. The PlayStation 3 implements next-generation media, the only one of the seventh-generation consoles to do so natively. With the Wii, DVD-playback isn't even natively supported.
Also, the PlayStation 3 incoroporates a 3.2GHz Cell microprocessor, which has seven active synergistic processing elements, all of which are controlled by a PowerPC-based power processing element. This means that the controller element alone is already more powerful than the Wii's IBM Broadway CPU, which is just an upgraded version of the IBM Gekko processor used in the GayCube.
You are just kidding yourself when you say that technology has little to do with graphics. Yes, the actual graphical quality will depend on how well the developer makes use of the available hardware, but there is a limit no matter how good the developer is. And the limit will be very close with the Wii due to its outdatred technology. The PlayStation 3's nVidia RSX (Reality Synthesizer) is capable of 1.8 TFLOPS when running at its top speed. It also has a total of more than 300 million transistors. To put that in perspective, the Intel Pentium 4 processor has 55 million. This not only makes the processor more technically efficient, but more power-efficient as well. The RSX alone can also produce nearly 75 billion shader operations per second, and 100 billion when used in conjunction with the CPU. nVidia's own CEO has said that the Reality Synthesizer is more powerful than two top-of-the-line GeForce 6800 Ultra cards combined.
Now, no more of this "ps3 is teh suxxorzz" stuff. It annoys me.
atomix? sometimes i read that magazine since i am in mexico :)
I dunno about you guys, but I was more interested in this picture: http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m98/nightwalker360/360bikini.jpg
Just so that people realize that a flop is not immenent from the wii, look at the facts. Nintendo is the ONLY company who has changed the formula for this generation. Last time is was using a portable device in conjunction with the console, the time before that it was the joystick, now the newest recipe in gameplay is interactivity. Guitar hero, DDR, Karaoke Revolution, tons of games are getting more and more interactive and more and more gamers are loving it. The wii remote and nunchuck is just the next deeper step. The next gen after this will be even more in depth as the other consoles who have focused on only how the game looks attempt to catch up with nintendo who has delved into the core values of gaming and changed them once again.
For all you PS3 fanboys out there, I also think you should get a reality check. Your console looks like a pregnant old fat ps2. Somewhere along the line sony missed the memo that Consumers like pretty. Either that or the word expensive was added on to the end of their version. I mean Honestly who in their right mind is going to go spend $600 on a thing that is primarily used solely to pass time. I can Build a high Quality gaming PC for cheaper. And then there is the lack of originality. Microsoft announces that they want to use hd dvd's- sony announces blu ray's just after. Nintendo announces motion sensative- PS3 decides that motion sense will fill the gap in their controller left by the absense of their stolen Rumble technology. and then i wonder where they got the controller design....? hmm.... Where have i seen that design before...? oh! I know! It's the exact same design they used in the past 2 consoles!!! I wonder how they thought it up... maybe they realized that they would get sued by the gamers who threw their controllers if they made their controller a boomerang.. Anyway I do have to give them props on being original on at least one account. Their console is the only one out of the three that decided to be big, heavy and ugly. Not to the mention that it's going to be as hot as your mom when she sees luigi. Just about as ugly too.
It's going to be funny, you know, when all these PS3 fanboys play their PS3 for the first time, then after a few hours, it will start to melt. Nintendo recognized this issue a long time ago, thus the external power supply for Gamecube. The Wii might look plastic, Maybe because it is. Can some genius here tell me what the PS3 is made of? You should be able to recognize the smell when the internal power supply is burning the shiny black fingerprint magnet. The PS3 looks like a PS2 carrying a fetus. I bet if you got a PS3 and sawed off the bulging part, you'd get a PS2, And guess what? You wouldn't even need to get a new controller for it! You can just use your half-developed PS2.5 controller. A PS3 is just a PS2, but on steroids. Let's see. The reason the Wii power supply isn't built in is because Nintendo decided to you know, DESIGN a console that was compact. Something that people won't want to hide inside an entertainment system, Something that you won't need a new TV stand just so you can fit that PS2.5 somewhere. Have fun spending $600 on your new? no. poorly upgraded PS2.
How about all the fanboys shutup, or at least post educated, informed statements, not pure BS.
