Dell unveils the AMD-based Latitude 131L
We wouldn't exactly call it a torrent of AMD-based laptops from previously Intel-faithful Dell, but it's at least a start. The new Latitude 131L is the small-biz counterpart to the Inspiron 1501, featuring a Turion 64 X2 dual-core processor (starting at $899) or a Sempron processor (starting at $629), integrated graphics and a 15.4-inch widescreen display. Deets are otherwise slim, but we're guessing they'll be similar to the D820 (pictured) -- we'll know for sure tomorrow when the 131L goes live on Dell's online store.

Wait, I always thought that Intel was superior to AMD? This entry makes it seem like the other way around.
Not Always, I would say its like a cycle ever since the 1st intro of the Athlon by AMD. The performance crown was shifted several time.
That picture is a horrible one, really. Looks like it's a square, and not a rectangle (it is a widescreen after all).
This looks way better than the other dell laptops, I hope their are some good Christmas deals that bring it down even lower.
I would be careful of these laptops. I just returned a D620 because the LCD was a joke. It was blurry, dim, and just plain unusable. Check out the Dell forums and search for D620 poor screen clarity, and see what comes up.
I know this is not a D620, but it seems like Dell is using junker LCD's in it's notebooks right now, so in my opinion, the money is better spent elsewhere.
I use a Latitude D820 I love the case design, light, nice edges, etc.
The monitor is great on thease models if you have you resalution set correctly.
@M.Rod - Did you set your DPI correctaly on the display (advanced monitor settings), that will make a world of diffrence.
spell check anyone?
AMDs are cheaper than Intels. The only incentive to buy an AMD book from Dell will be the cheaper price...
