SOYO's GVLM1728 and GVLM1928, the dazzling dual-displays
In what appears to be the conjoined twins of monitors, SOYO has just announced two models of dual-screen LCDs -- two 17-inch (or 19-inch) monitors attached at the side, but with a single base. Both models, the GVLM1728 and the GVLM1928, pack a 2560 x 1024 native resolution, 8ms response time, and 300 nits (that's candelas per square meter) of brightness. The beefier of the two comes in at $1200, while the 17-incher will set you back an even grand. Sure, it's not quite as good as the TripleHead2Go, but it'll be a bit less expensive than buying a trio of monitors and that VGA connector.

I'm sorry, $1000 for two monitors with one stand where you can buy 2 monitors for $400 dollars total and a separate dual-monitor stand for $100, which makes it half the price? What am I missing here?

You are not missing anything. This is a horrible, horrible deal. At 50% if it would be simply a bad deal.

you're not missing a thing and I was going to write the exact same statement. I think this is another one of those things built for people who just don't know better. Like AOL, Register.com and Apple Monitors.

*Yawn* I agree. What a rip off. I suppose if you absolutely have to have two monitors on one VGA cable... but even then, cheaper alternatives are around.

Fourth vote no here. 5 months agao I bought two 19" Samsung LCD's for ~$500 after rebate, and that includes having two bases (i.e. more manfactured materials). As noted above, this is for those that don't know no better

When it malfunctions you lose two screens at once. Great.

Wow, it looks like a Bloomberg machine...
