Ubicod's UMH700 non-Windows Vista Media Center media center
Ubicod's prepped to release a hot, new do-it-all hi-definition media center in the new year. No, we're not talking Windows Vista Media Center but a proprietary, networked PVR, with time shifting, EPG, and dual-ATSC/NTSC tuner. It's not clear how much, if any storage is on-board as the specs only list "support for SATA HDD" as a peripheral. Hopefully, we're talking a few hundred gig on board with eSATA support for a TB or more hanging off the back. The box brings plenty of connectivity with component, composite, and HDMI outs and 2x RCA, optical and coaxial digital (S/PDIF), and AC3 Dolby Digital audio support. It also features a USB host port for pc-less transfer of media from USB-equipped MP3 players and digital cameras. Best of all, the UMH700 connects to your home network via fixed Ethernet or even over the home power lines with support for the not even close to 85Mbps HomePlug 1.0 Turbo standard. Media can then be streamed via UPnP and DLNA from your PC/Mac or other compatible product. Pricing and release, you wish. All we know is Ubicod, we'll be mackerel. Sorry, but it was so there.

About time someone put together a decent package of options such as HDMI out and full multi-platform streaming.
Too bad it can't record in Hi-Def.

Umm... the fact that it has 2 ATSC/NTSC suggest that it can do exactly that, record Hi-definition content. I think what you intended to say was that it won't be able to record encrypted content, nor will it record digital content received from an external device (say from your HD cable box or something) ...
To my knowledge, no device can do this, but the keyword here is 'yet'.

Mac support? Cool.
