It's got a 12.1-inch display with XGA touchscreen and/or digitizer options, as well as an SXGA+ digitizer-only version; it's got 3G; it's got 802.11n MIMO WiFi; it's got a PC card and ExpressCard slot; it's got a bunch of ports, Core Duo or Solo processor options, a 2.5-inch drive up to 120GB, in-bezel nav, fingerprint reader, mic, etc.; it's Lenovo's
X60,
reborn as a tablet convertible tablet. It weighs 3.77 pounds, is 1.1-1.3-inches thick, and could in theory last you up to 7.5 hours on a single extended battery. It starts at $1,800. Steel yourself, though, you've got video games to buy you and your family. Well, yourself, anyway.
Now if only they would come up with a single-core version that would last 13 hours I would be sold.
...and still no built in DVI.
At last, 11n coming through. But it's 4:3, ugly, and lacks a trackpad. Bleh.
It's a freakin' tablet...what the hell do you need a trackpad for?
Also, it has a thumbpad control--it's the disc to the left of the fingerprint reader.
This is targeted for people who favour mobility (low weight with long battery life). There are other options for those who need 14" widescreens or an integrated optical drive. I have a Toshiba Satellite R15 convertible that serves very well as a tablet, but it's not easy to tote around like a clipboard due to the size and weight.
I've had nothing but good luck with the ThinkPads...the X41 tablet was very well-built and the X60 just improves on it...it has better screen protection and a more durable hinge.
I think the Fujitsu T4210 is the closest competition, but it's only XGA...
The fingerprint reader looks awkward if it was going to be used in a classic laptop setting. You have to do some strange motions.

Nothing on the Lenovo site, nothing coming up on google - is this a lame repeat of the same rumors that's been going around for 8 months, or is this actually news?
If you can't appreciate Thinkpad styling then please go back to Apples.
Try http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/notebooks/thinkpad/x-series/index.html
that link is to the non tablet x60. i expect that lenovo will update their site in the moring. check www.gottabemobile.com and www.tabletpcreviewspot.com for reviews and videos of the x60 tablet.
which pc laptops have dvi output? quite interested.
I have a Sony PCG-V505AXP sitting on my desk right now that has a DVI output. I'd look for a newer but similar Sony model.
Also the Dell Inspiron 1705 has DVI... but I would call it portable except in the grossest sense.
Wow. Lenovo didn't release any new ThinkPads for so long that I was beginning to seriously think that the ThinkPad brand was dead. (don't get me wrong now, I love ThinkPads, I even use one, I was just commenting on how it's become so obscure).
This is really great if you frequently fly and cant really justify spending the extra cash on first or business class seats, with this you can use the laptop to watch movies in the more cramped coach seats without fear of breaking the screen when the person in front of you decides all of a sudden to lean back.
They call one Display 'Multitouch' - is it one of the Touch-Screen-Displays which also can detect two different fingers at the same time?
No, its only called "multitouch" because you can use both the digitizer pen and your finger... its not an iPhone, sorry!
I see this has the IBM badge on it. I thought Lenovo stopped using IBM logos on their machines. Am I wrong?
Chris - my roommate just bought a Lennovo Thinkpad T60 - and while it has lenovo on the base of the LCD, it still has "IBM Thinkpad" on the right hand palm rest - just like my older IBM Thinkpad T42p does.
For all science major undergrads, this is a must have. I have the X41T and it has been a tremendous aid in many classes where I had to use the pen to draw various molecules, figures, charts, etc.
One thing I don't like about my X41T is that it's slow- this fixes that problem rather well.
Lenovo can and probably will continue to use the IBM name for 3-4 more years. This thing weighs in less than four pounds and people whine about not having a touchpad?
My Lenovo Rep informed me they will still carry some standard models, but customized laptops are where they are heading. If true, just imagine the possibilities.
Yesssss...a resolution higher than 1024x768...they have 1400x1050
who do I have to kill to get a freaking svideo port on a tablet?
this may help

Intel GMA950?!? No no nooooo!!!!
Anything but the Intel GMA950! Damn you Lenovo. I've been waiting for the X60 Tablet for ages, and you do this to me?
To cripple one of the most interesting products in a long time is verging on criminal.
Can you use that middle button and the knubble to scroll sideways? I think that would be about the only reason why anyone should complain about the lack of a trackpad other than your own ability to accelerate the cursor using your finger. You know, you can just set the sensitivity really high and disable mouse acceleration...
Its a ThinkPad what more can i say!
