Thanko's hand-warming mousepad is Shamu-approved
Just in case you're too manly to rock the oh-so-toasty G-Gloves, and the hand-warming mouse wasn't functional enough, Thanko's busting out yet another zany offering to get your fingers (and hand, and wrist) nice and warm during the sub-zero winters some of us must endure. The USB / AC-powered, um, blue whale sports an insulated compartment to stuff your plain ole mouse as well as your mousing hand. There's also a "high / low" switch to control the fiery depths within, and just in case you'd rather not use your insulating mammal while on the PC, you can optionally connect it to any AC power source and attempt to shove both hands in simultaneously. The warm whale mousepad is available now to heat up those long, freezing evenings spent perusing through Engadget archives for just ¥2,480 ($21).

Who hasn't been in a computer lab on campus where the room is cooled for all the computers, but not comfortable for the users? This is damn near necessary for the lab I use CAD in.
As I was clicking on this article, I was thinking to myself, "Self, wouldn't it be nice to have your hand in the mouth of an ugly, yet warm, blue fuzzy whale."
Alas, dreams do come true. Oh no, wait. $21? Forget that!
Man...I am so tired of every review using the word "rock" as a cool new substitute for "feature", or "has", or "wear". Can we try to mix it up a little? It's starting to wear thin.
I spend all winter with my office door open... until I get where I can't type anymore because my fingers are numb. Otherwise the HVAC overlords on our campus think my office needs to be 84 (but the Mac tower and two big LCDs put out more than enough heat).
I saw one of these at a store but it was called a "glove" and it came with two (one for each hand) and it didn't look like a whale.
are they washable? Are they made of natural fibres?
ideal to go with the usb gloves and slippers. Haha.
