Buffalo's WSKP-G brings Skype on-the-go for about $200
Last we spotted a Buffalo Skype handset, it was tethered to a corded keyboard, which made us cry inside. This time though, Buffalo's come out with what we've been seeing more and more of lately: a separate wireless device that can work from any WiFi hotspot. It supports Buffalo's AOSS setup, handles WEP, WPA and WPA2 security protocols, and apparently lasts without a recharge for 2.5 hours. The WSKP-G should hit Japanese shores next month sometime for ¥24,100 ($204) -- we'd love to see one cross the Pacific in 2007, though we've got no idea if that'll actually happen.[Via Electronista, thanks Jonathan]

I really dig Skype.
The various Skype phones however...
Isn't it a bit expensive for a skype phone?
Yeah, it's expensive alright. But Skype Phone have to run on embedded Linux platforms, so they can't really compete price-wise with simple DECT phones.
Ever since that whole skype being limited on AMD processors thing, I've refused to use it. Skype is evil. Use Gizmo instead.
not sure about Skype anymore... and I've never relied on phones that rely on WIFI network. I saw one review that the Skype phone (can't remember if it's this one or another model) won't work well if you're driving or in a crowded place.... how silly is that?

as this phone uses wifi, i'm not sure how you could use it at all while you're driving. we don't yet have wifi hot spots on highways in this country.
unless of course you had a fancy set up with a cellular card and router, but that would defeat the whole purpose of the wifi phone
