Mivx officially unveils MX-760HD HD WiFi media streamer
Mvix has certainly found its way to your living room before, and we've heard the rumblings of its latest HD streaming / storage device coming to fruition, but just before the holiday rush the firm is officially releasing the MX-760HD Wireless HD Media Center. This feature-laden box supports wireless media (HD thankfully included) streaming over 802.11g with full WEP support, and comes packed with an optional 200 to 750GB hard drive to store files remotely. Sporting a 7.4- x 7.6- x 2.3-inch enclosure, the Linux-based box plays nice with Windows systems and outputs in NTSC / PAL, and even includes an external LCD to give you quick updates on what's going where. Aside from WiFi, it also features Ethernet connectivity and USB ports, and Mvix even includes a remote to control the action from afar. On the rear, you'll find outputs for DVI, component, composite, stereo, and optical / coaxial digital audio to play back any of your DivX, MPEG 1/2/4, WMV, ASF, DAT, DVD, IFO, VOB, ISO, MP3, WMA, AAC, OGG, PCM, AC3, DTS, BMP, JPEG, and PNG files -- and that's just the tip of the iceberg. So if you're scouting a svelte HD streamer with internal storage to boot, the MX-760HD can be pre-ordered now (sans an internal HDD) for $329.

i like it
So does this mean you can get HD content from the net, send it wirelessly to this device which outputs to the TV?
Their home page states the following:
"It supports resolution of 1920 x 1080i Progressive Scan video output to produce crisp and clear picture quality."
Isn't 1920 x 1080i Interlaced? What does an interlaced progressive scan do?
Am I missing something, or is this an error -- a pretty basic one...
It is just a typo on their part. In the specs, it lists this:
HD COMPONENT Y, Pb, Pr (480p, 720p,1080) / HD DVI (480, 720,1080i, 1080p)
They just probably meant to say they could do up to 1080p.
That is a sexy little box. Too bad it's just a bit more than I'd want to pay sans hard drive. If I can grab one for like $200-250 minus the hard drive down the road, I might bite.
Maybe this will fit your requirements?

The units are strikingly similar...
Check out the 5000u (http://www.mvixusa.com/product.php?product=mv5000u) not exactly as feature enriched, but close. It is also only $200.
I am looking for something to replace my Roku PhotoBridge HD1000 (piece of crap due to the power supply issue and Roku's lack of support on it). I was initially looking at the 5000, but heard the 5000u was around the corner. Now the 760HD is coming out, which is even better.
I thought I had read some where that these things don't need a harddrive and can stream content across the network. I have to locate a manual and double check, because if it can't, then it isn't worth it for me.
I'm interested to know if this would play RMVB formats. Is anyone aware if this could (or if any others out there could)?
Thanks in advance.
Nice but my Xbox + Wifi Bridge combo is cheaper and in many ways better....
From what I read on their boards, this product has been canceled. Oh well, i was just gonna grab one.
its Linux based - so hopefully some adds in a torrent client.. for (ah..) downloading content who's copyright has expired.. yeah, that's right..
So, why does this thing cost so much more than the apparently similar Mediagate product?
Just launched: a community site dedicated to Mvix products, including the MX-760HD.
