My replacement remote showed up yesterday. It was sent back do to the alledgedly common jitter problem*, and the new remote had a slightly thicker, and brighter, cord.
* though really what I had was "it only works if I turn it at a right angle and any movement that swings it forward (like how you bowl) will instantly trigger this and thus I have to pop a battery and resych, though it's really the resetting of the remote and not the resynching that does it"
