Falcon unveils flame-painted FragBook TLX gaming laptop
Falcon Northwest has unveiled the FragBook TLX which, as you can probably tell by the name, targets Falcon's traditional audience of hardcore gamers. Similar to its FragBook desktop replacement brethren, the TLX is based around a 17-inch, 1680 x 1050 LCD; but unlike the DR model, the TLX has a relatively diminutive design. At only 1.5-inches thick and weighing 7-pounds, it's certainly not what you'd call an ultraportable, but then again, most ultraportables don't feature the TLX's 2.33GHz Core 2 Duo processor, up to 160GB of hard drive storage and 2GB of RAM, nor the nVIDIA GeForce 7600 GO graphics card with 256MB of video RAM. The combination of thinness and performance doesn't come cheap though, as the starting price of the TLX is $3,516. Those of you who really want to burn money -- and be able to prove that you did so -- can opt for an optional flame painted color scheme for $426.[Via Techie Diva]

I hear paying that much for Falcon-NW is actually worth it, unlike Alienware.
can you get it without the retarded falcon logo on it?
Nice, except a higher spec'ed ASUS G1-S (identical, but with a 512MB 7700GO) is ~2500.
I think we've had enough FLAMING laptops lately . . .
cause we all know "putting on your game face" means busting out your purple swirly-hearts-covered notebook.
;)
the goggles...they do nothing!
Graphics is underpowered for a 17", even a 7lb one. The Toshiba P150 is also 7ibs, but has a faster 7900GS; one model has the 7900GTX. Also, the 7700 is a good 20% faster than the 7600.
Looks a little gay! Or for a Female. I'd never buy it.
"optional flame painted color scheme for $426"
Is that a typo? $426?? Really???
Hell, I'll paint some crappy purple flames on your laptop for only $250. What a bargain!
The exact same setup, except with a X1600 256MB instead of the 7600 256MB, is $2800... on the Apple MacBook Pro.
I don't know about you, but in that product class, I know which one I'd rather have. 1 inch thick, 6.8 lbs... this is the infinitely sexier version of that Falcon book, and for less price too!
Have you seen what it costs to get custom colors on a notebook? About that much. I won't link the site, but there's a company that does custom colors for Apple gear that gets about that much, for solid colors.
But money isn't the only problem. To me, in the dark, with the angle my LCD panel is at, that looks like someone tried to make a burled walnut look. Not for me.
So who is this company? Anyone actually have good things to say about them?
i like Falcon-NorthWest design little more than Alienwares. only other one i would consider would be Voodoopc. although Voodoopc, and Alienware are bought by their respective owners Dell and HP now.
I had the same thought about the MBPro... but did you see the battery life on this thing? 1.5hrs playing a DVD? Seriously?
I bought a MBPro C2D recently which I boot into Windows when gaming and it's quite awesome.
Food for thought.
Nice!
would prefer voodoos sli model. maybe heavier but is sli!
