More console-related crime to stuff the stockings

At least with the Wiinjuries popping up left and right, they're primarily self-inflicted wounds that don't involve the police, but it seems the Xbox 360 (and old Xbox, sometimes) and the PS3 are jacking up crime rates in cities everywhere. While we already knew hot game consoles brought out the absolute worst in people, we've got two more stories to persuade you to watch your back when snagging that last unit from the store's stockroom. After lucking up and grabbing herself an oh-so-coveted PlayStation 3 in a Florida retailer, Missy Robinson was followed to her home and held at gunpoint (along with her brother). Of course, she intelligently surrendered the console in exchange for safety, but she's not apt to go console hunting again anytime soon. On the Microsoft side, dedicated thieves "burrowed through the back wall of the video game store and stole 13 Xbox 360 game consoles." Notably, employees reported a scattered mess of PS3 boxes, but when the bandits realized they were all empty display cartons, they jacked the Xbox 360 assortment in order to not go home empty-handed. Look folks, we realize the markup on eBay is fairly extreme, but it's probably less costly than the bail money you'd need to put up after pulling a stunt like this.

the markup on ebay is not so great. My buddy bought the costco bundle and cant get rid of it for what he bought it for including shipping. So he is going to return it to costco for his money back including shipping.

Today my mom came from work today and her boss told my mom that her dauter was shopping at future shop and she saw one last wii, she had to get escorted to pay for her things (pack of AAAs, wii game,extra wiimote, and the wii,)and to get to her car! to bad. well...............once i get more money for one. (I only got 60$ so far.) oh, yah, for the record im canadian.

Gah....Whatever. What is the ratio of PS3 to Wii muggings? 10:1? I sure as hell would take my chances with walking out of a store with a Wii vs. a PS3.
1. It can fit nicely inside of a small bag.
2. Its not nearly as big of a loss if someone steals it.
3. You can expect to get a new one within a few weeks vs. months on the PS3...if you are lucky. I'm still suspicious on how they are going to do a Europe March launch and still provide high demand here in the states.

In short go back to making out with your console fanboi.

I wonder, if thieves go online with your PS3 or Xbox 360, couldn't they be traced?

There's gotta be a site where you can trace the UPC or MAC address of these consoles.

If I had my console(s) stolen, I'd give as much information as possible to the store or Manufacturer to take "some" action.
