Nothing says Hanukkah like a Menorah Wii sensor bar
It's no secret that the candles can serve as a substitute for the Wii's sensor bar in a pinch, but our pals at Joystiq decided to push the console's candlelight-capabilities to the limit and see if a menorah would help their Wii Sports game at all. While the gameplay advantage is still in question, as video after the break shows, the menorah backed up the Wiimote just fine, with only the occasional hiccup in movement. Sadly, our Festivus-related experiments have proved to be less effective.[Via Wii Fanboy]

I gotta say, I made my own kludge Wii Sensor bar because my living room is bigger than a postage stamp. The Game play was much improved with a wider sensor bar and brighter LEDs. I hear how people are making wireless versions all the time, but nobody seems to be talking about improved accuraccy and performance. I could care less about it being wireless, I just want to sit more than 8 feet away when plunger those Bunnies. I made it with seperate LED arrays so i can place them as far apart as I want. The trade off is that you can't get within 4 feet of the TV and have the pointer work when they are set wide, but hey, like my mom used to say "Don't sit so close to the TV or you'll go Blind" I can't imagine the amount of IR being produced by those candles not improving performance and gameplay, as long as they don't flicker when people flail their Wiimotes like maniacs
