Sun Connection's waterproof DAP: helps drop the kids off at the pool

There was a time when the display-less mp3 player was an item of ridicule and scorn. But with the second-gen iPod shuffle becoming Apple's number one seller, well, let's just say that the industry has taken notice. Starting today, the Japanese can pick up the ¥2,980 (about $25) MUSIC+SC-MP512MWP from Sun Connection. Available in three colors, this MP3/WMA player packs 512MB of flash, a waterproof case, and just a hint of "BM" smeared along the bottom. What more could you ask for?

Mmm. "...drop kids off at the pool" and "...'BM' smeared across the bottom."
Great way to start the morning with a chuckle.

Well while this might be better than the current player Finis SwiMP3 http://www.finisinc.com/products-swimp3.shtml it still seems to lack one main thing which saddly no other group except H20Audio http://www.h2oaudio.com/ and Otterbox http://www.otterbox.com/products/ipod_cases/ and thats the control of our current player in the water. I have Zen:M but nothing is out there for it so maybe I would get excited if these cases worked on my player.

WATERPROOF 2nd generation iPod Shuffle
While other versions of the iPod have waterproof cases, I haven't heard of a waterproof case for the 2nd generation iPod Shuffle. As the minute size of the 2G Shuffle would make it the perfect digital player for watersports, it's too bad that a waterproof case for this unit hasn't been produced... yet. However, the great news is that there is a WATERPROOF 2nd generation iPod Shuffle sold on the web by SWIMMAN at http://www.swimman.com. It's sold along with their excellent waterproof headset that has been rated on the web as being the best waterproof headset on the market. I have used it and now won't go in the water or do laps without it. Consequently, we may not need a waterproof case (that would add bulk and are prone to leak) for the 2G iPod Shuffle after all.

My favorite hobby happens to be reading engadget while dropping the kids off at the pool.
Thank god for Wifi.

What, no reference to Mr. Hankey? I'm disappointed.

I've been selling these mp3 players at Target (Australia) for near two years now (under a fake 'Base' name), for about $5 at last clearance (that's how crap they are).
