iriver set to launch W10, Clix2 and B20 at CES

The mythical, morphing iRiver W10 looks to be due for release next week at CES. But that's just the start, as they'll also be launching the Clix2 media player, B20 DMB TV, and possibly a few more devices resulting in a 12-strong product show for Reigncom's iriver. The W10 pictured above, looks a whole helluvalot like the "V10" PMP prototype we checked at CeBIT and nothing like the WiBro UMPC we heard about from iriver themselves. Still, appearances aside, it looks like this W10 is some sort of media player with built-in Navteq maps for the US. However, instead of GPS or even Bluetooth listed in the specs, it features WiFi, VoIP and an MP3 player. The Clix2 is a bit more straight shootin'. It shares the beveled edges of the "W10" but, as the name applies, is a followup to the much loved Clix. Not much is known other than it sports an AMOLED display and up to 6GB of memory. Also scheduled for release is the B20 followup to the tiny B10 DMB player which bumps the screen size a tad to 2.4-inches and adds an SD slot for photo viewing and apparently some PVR action. To be honest, we're not sure what to expect after this, but knowing iriver, it's going to be interesting. Besides, CES kicks off this weekend, what's a few more days of waiting after all these months? See a picture of the Clix2 after the break.

That could not possibly look more generic

Lookin' forward to the Clix2. Was looking at the current one, but 2Gb is just too little form me. 6Gb will do just fine, thank you :)

This Clix2 looks great. The Clix is a great player and I came THIS close to buying it, but decided to get the Sansa E260R Rhapsody player, for smoother access to subscription music. Still, if my priority was wowing people, I'd get the Clix.

i got the clix and love it. although i wish it had more hdd space. 2gb is not enough. they do however came out with the 4gb version. now they have this clix2 at 6gb. although im not looking at the moment for a new one to replace my first one this is indeed great news. i love the little guy. now if only Iriver will sell more cradle-docks. been looking for one for ages.

Man, I hope the Clix2 doesn't appear for a while since my wife just got me the 4gb Clix for Xmas (she's got good taste). I just hate buying products right before a better predecessor is released.

Maps and now GPS? Must be using Wi-Fi Positioning from Skyhook Wireless.

I have the clix 4gb. works great, even watch dvd burns on it while riding the train. Can't wait for the clix2. BTW, works perfectly with a napster subscription.

Wow, mapping system without GPS instead it works on WiFi, terrific if you live near 400 starbucks and have a hotspot account. AHHAHAhAHHAhahah

I still can't figure out what they mean by "see a picture of the clix2 after the break" What break? I see that in every post and still don't know what break they're referring to.

"After the break" just refers to clicking on the article in the blog.
That takes you to the "full" article with extra pictures (when applicable) and reader feedback.

OML if the clix2 has 30gb or more, and wifi, i'll be in heaven!!! seriously, giving it the name clix2 means you have to do more then add 2 more gigabytes.

i actually don't like the design of the clix2. yeah the thinness is nice, as that's one of the problem area's of the current, but the way it looks, reminds me of my old archos gmini 400 without buttons and a larger screen. it also vaguely brings up a nintendo ds in my mind. it doesn't look bad, but i don't know if i like the beveled face. i liked it better flat actually, looked cleaner and more professional in my opinion. this look gives it a "toyish" look in a slight way, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but i think they should'ved kept the flat surface, and just thinned it out. the extra memory is nice though, and battery life should be better, especially if they took out the sleep mode when you "shutdown" the player.

Thanks Michael, I can sleep in peace now..
